As little as Suh respected around the league for who he is, it seems like it's just a matter of time before someone inadvertantly puts a finger very far into his facemask and takes out an eye.

I'd take Suh on this squad in a heartbeat.. SUH-WATT

I think a lot of people don't realize football players are bred to destroy.. Since the age of 6 you're taught to seek and DESTROY. Your mentality is to hurt people on defense especially in the front 7, and you want that to change after almost 15 years of a consistent attitude..

I'm not trying to justify ALL of Suh's actions but this topic (regarding ALL players) has just been bothering me for a while..

    No coach is saying

"drag him to the ground lightly!"

"make sure you check and see if he let go of the ball before you finish your tackle!"

"We want to beat them, but we don't want to hit them with everything they have"

Nobody even uses the same logic on the offensive side of the ball.. When defenders break down for a tackle they have lost all momentum.. Nobody is going to get mad at Arian Foster for trucking the piss out of a "defenseless Cornerback" Big hits and dirty plays are a part of the game..

None of us would be complaining if Suh was a Texan.. I'm sure the rest of the league thought the same of Cushing or Pollard a couple years back.

This is the NFL where Lawerence Taylor happens.. Where Warren Sapp happens.. Where Jack Tatum happens.. Where Sean Taylor happens...

Let it go and start hoping our boys (besides Watt) can go after the Quarter back as hard as Suh and Fairly do.

Not a huge fan of their show, but props to Nick Wright for asking this good question.

this entire post is just wrong on so many levels.

Playing hard and tough doesn't mean intentionally trying to hurt someone. Suh has a long history of trying to hurt plays, not during the play, but even after it ends. The players you've mentioned at least had remorse and regret for when they injured players in the field of play...I don't think that's the case for Suh at all.

Took me a while to gain some respect for Courtland Finnegan (happened especially after his segment on E:60 which was one of the best I've seen), I don't know if I could ever gain respect for a dirty player like Suh. I can respect the fact that he has talent, but all the dirty, intentional stuff, there's no place for that.

You know, I think Matt would get more street cred. if he let his hair grow long like Kenny "The Snake" Stabler. Just a long, kinda greasy mess sticking out his helmet, scruffy beard, receding hairline...and kicking everybody's a$$ along with Dre at his side.

So you'd rather our other DL play like Suh and Fairley instead of Watt?

I'm not exactly sure what you are arguing here. You say in your post that you aren't trying to justify ALL Suh's actions...which I take to mean things like the arm stomp, nut kick, the obviously dirty stuff. Well, THAT'S the stuff everyone has a problem with. Of course football is violence and it takes a little bit of a head-hunter mentality to play defense. Your examples of Cushing and Pollard are not apt because they haven't done the type of dirty stuff that Suh has. You know, the stuff that everyone has a problem with.

Did Suh pulls this kinda of **** at Nebraska? If not, Schwartz might just be the root cause of the problem here.

Yes, I think we should definitely try and emulate the 4-7 Lions.

Schwartz was DC for the Titans during Albert Haynesworth's career there, and early on in Finnegan's career.

The similarities between Haynesworth and Suh's dirty play is pretty striking.

I think Suh is a dirty player based on his past history, but I've watched the replay numerous times and I can't find anything dirty about that play. Derek Newton flung Suh to the ground, causing Suh to go flying out of control. You can tell that when Suh is heading to the ground head first he doesn't even really have a clear idea of where Schaub is standing.

You don't see where he gives the extra kick of his leg? Perhaps actually hitting the groin was accidental, but the kick itself certainly looks deliberate.

I'm a titans fan and this is classic Jeff Fisher football. Greg Williams and Jim Schwartz both come from that system. It's old school get away with whatever you can type football.

Okay, I just watched it again after reading your post, and I do see what you're talking about. I had missed it before.

I've heard sports guys elude to the fact that Suh was pretty dirty...and not just to the teams he played against but also his own teammates in practice.

Falling players don't often have their limbs extended in a way that it will windmill into someone. That's an unnecessary roughness flag for a leg whip.
