I wasn't sure on what division it was other than the fact it wasn't Division 1 which was my point. I was referring to the fact that I was referring to division 3 high schools, not colleges. Whether it was Div 2 or Div 3 is irrelevant as scouts see them almost the same. They mainly focus on Div 1.
Lack of speed? You mean how he tested with high numbers in spints and agility drills? He has a great first step and his acceleration and top end speed are almost elite. Its his lateral quickness that is just decent. He might not be super quick laterally, but he's good enough. I can bring up any highlight tape from Linsanity and the recent games so far to show you points where he can blow past his guy given enough room to operate and turn the corner on screens.
Jeremy was a first team All-State player, and he was one of a few finalists for California's "Mr. Basketball" award. It's a pretty exclusive award. You know another guy who was a finalist that same year as Lin? Some junior named James Harden. Yes, that James Harden.
Most of the hate here is from people who are angry the Rockets released Dragic and Lowry. They don't realize that Lowry is what turned into Harden. Dragic's game is very overestimated here in my opinion. He is a good player but not worth giving a player option to.
This is ridiculous. Lin is getting "hate" b/c he is struggling mightily. Simple as that. If Dragic was still our PG and shoots 34%, he would be getting destroyed/grilled too. If Rafer was still our PG and shoots like he usually does, he would be getting hated on too. Same with Ariza or any player who can't shoot worth a damn.
What does this even mean? Unlike college, there is no sanctioning body - I do not believe there is any uniformity between states with regards to how name their high school divisions. But way more importantly, go open your local newspaper and look at the boys bball rankings, there is no ranking per division, some high schools are perennially good. Some of the really small school population schools are perennial powerhouses, how do explain that Jose?
During the Bulls and Knicks game last year, the crowd chanted "overrated"... referring to Jeremy. I was surprised, how can somone be overrated when you're merely earning a minimum salary? What's the justification for calling him that? And now, Jose's sig shows "Jeremy is a fraud compared to Lowry and Dragic." A fraud? Stuff like these, I don't understand.
As far as I know, he was rated like 400th+ or something among all of the nba players last season. I don't see how is that overrated at all.
It's probably due to the media over hyping Lin like crazy during Linsanity and Bulls fan just want to show support to their pg Rose. It's just a stupid chant to try to rattle Lin not much else.
Well, that's easy. It's because he's sucking. The question should be: Why is Lin getting so much love? Probably racism amirite
In Lin's case, it is. The biggest gripe from Lin's former teammates all stemmed from his 25-mil contract with Houston. The likes of JR Smith and Felton never had any respect for Lin's talents simply because he is not your typical NBA player. Then again many of the posters here would rather see Lin fail even though he does play for the Rockets. It makes you question their fandom not that I am in any position to define what a true Rockets fan should behave around here.
What player has been immune to "heavy" criticism (or as many would like to call "hate") when they struggle, esp. with their shooting? The likes of Rafer/Wesley/Brooks/Ariza/Chuck Hayes and even our superstars in McGrady/yao have all been destroyed when they didn't perform. These guys are paid to perform. When you shoot 34% for this long of a stretch, you're not performing. This has nothing to do with wanting Lin to fail. But if that's what you want to believe, then that's fine. He's also been benched twice by the coaching staff for his poor play, so they are witnessing the same things.
Yes I do think he has the least developed game. Perhaps you misunderstood my point. Its not that Lin hasnt improved, but it is the fact that he is the least developed or shall I say polished of our core in terms of skills. I understand he made a big jump from being undrafted and all, but I like to look at where he is now and he is the least developed in that sense. Also I dont take into account starting as heavily when considering a players accomplishments because factors such as situation come into play. Last year our backup was Dragic who was a lot better than say Sessions who started for the lakers (due to the external factor of situation). IMO Lin is only a starter because of his marketing potential and also because he is the best "pg" we have on the roster which is not saying much.
