Looks like Harbaugh is making sure his handpicked QB is ready for the playoffs and beyond, and likely jettison Alex Smith in the offseason. [rquoter]If benched quarterback Alex Smith is on the 49ers' roster as of April 1, 2013, his full base salary of $7.5 million for next season will be guaranteed. Barring a stretch-run faceplant by Colin Kaepernick, don't expect to see Smith back with the Niners unless he's willing to take a massive pay cut and accept a backup role. (And that is highly unlikely.) If the 49ers cut Smith before April 1, they would owe him only $1 million for 2013. Smith is also due a $1 million roster bonus in March. They'll probably pink-slip him right before that. Nov. 25 - 12:55 pm et[/rquoter] http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/playerbreakingnews.asp?sport=NFL&id=3119&line=248978&spln=1
Chargers are like the Cowboys, but with 10x less media attention. Norv/Garrett need to be canned ASAP.
Smith should get a starting job somewhere. He deserves it. Harbaugh's expectations are just too high, as expected.
Smith wasn't Harbaugh's guy. He was a carryover from another regime, Harbaugh traded up to get Colin K. and chased PManning in the offseason before resigning Smith. All signs that says Smith didn't exactly get a strong vote of confidence from Harbaugh. Smith should look into the Jets or Eagles situation, but I think Sanchez's contract is guaranteed for 2013.
+1. It's still sad to see though a guy who's having a career year lose his job. Never seen that before. He would fit perfectly into the Jets' style of play. Play safe/conservative and let the defense dictate tempo.
Smith was actually a free agent when Harbaugh was hired and was planning to leave, but Harbaugh convinced him to return. Smith even organized off season activities for the team during the lockout without a contract. Sucks for Smith since its the first time he has a competent coaching staff and has chance to go to the superbowl, but theres no denying Kaepernick's talent. Dude is pretty much RG3 lite.
All the injuries have finally caught with the Packers. Too bad for them that the Ravens have used up the stolen win of the night.
Starting last week, they made some ridiculous commitment to running the ball. They spent more than half their plays running last week and it nearly cost them because they suck at running. They are doing even more this week and, not surprisingly, it's just wasting plays. Rodgers is 4/5 for 100 yards. And then they have 10 runs. They need to get back to what makes them good: slinging the ball all over the field.
This game isn't over man. The Giants are just pumped up right now. Rodgers will have a say in the final decision when it's all said and done.
You are amazed at what Rodgers are able to do when his O-line and running game suck. Give him the time that Brees/Brady/Peyton and he would literally be perfect every game.
y rodgers hurry throws and gives interception to giants when he is being pressured? y no use his eliteness to teleport? (point is...when the trenches get battered, the passing game goes in flames, i don't care if you're "elite")
