You look at teams that are contenders in both leagues that are on our schedule, and we've played them all except one so far. Denver--beaten. Baltimore--beaten. Chicago--beaten. Green Bay--lost, and rightfully so. Look how formidable Green Bay is now. New England--...we'll see.

Even if we lose the NE game, and one of the two from Detroit and Tennessee, we've still acquitted ourselves very nicely over the course of this schedule so far. I still believe in Baby Steps Kubiak, meaning we'll find a way to go 11-5 or 12-4 because Kubiak doesn't believe in taking large strides in any direction. We'll just be good enough and make it to the AFC championship because that's one game further than we made it last year.

What would you think if we lost in the AFC championships? Frankly I would be disappointed. We lose in the Superbowl, and I'd be ok with that. The NFC is significantly better than the AFC, and any one of Green Bay, New York, or San Francisco, if they got on a good enough of a roll to make it to the Super Bowl, would be favored against us if we made it. That's my hope right now. Make it to the Super Bowl, and then we'll see what happens.

Superbowl or bust! This is best opportunity the Texans have ever had.

The final games are critical. They can't concede any ground. Another poster said that the Lions need the game more than we do. What! No, no, the Lions are going nowhere. We need the game much, much more. We need every game.

So we want both the broncos and patriots to win (assuming we keep the 1 seed) and the ravens to lose.

Looks like Jags are going to help us out with TEN. Too bad the Bills are playing like a-holes.

Today is a nice day if the Chargers hold on against Baltimore. With the Ravens (8-3) and Steelers (6-5) each losing, it looks more and more likely that the AFC North winner will get the 4 seed... especially when you look at Baltimore's upcoming schedule. No gimmies anywhere.

You know, I think it's that division matchup thing. Same reason the Jags played us so hard.

Turns out the Chargers were the gimmie. To give up a 4th and 29 on a routine dumpoff to Ray Rice is just mind-blowingly ridiculous. Norv Turner... :(

What a disappointment! The Chargers had them on the ropes and couldn't knock them out. Another Ravens loss would have really helped. The fight for home field throughout the playoffs is still a toss up. The Texans have the advantage, but must keep winning to hold on to it.

    Friggin' Chargers.

Denver seems to be getting better as the year goes on.

What a kick in teh nutz it would be to have Peyton come to Reliant and knock the Texans out of the playoffs.

Shades of Joe Montana and the Chiefs in the Astrodome all over again.

The flip side of this is imagine how sweet it would be to have him come back to Reliant and for us to end his dream season. Pay-back for about a decade of torturing us.

    Can you say POETIC JUSTICE?

It's not like this is some sort of far off dream scenario. The Texans have already beaten them once and would be favored to do it again.

I would just like to come in here and point out my distaste for the entire AFC West (Chiefs and Chargers in particular) this season. They've had, in no particular order, prime opportunities to hand the Broncos, Ravens, and Steelers big losses from the Texans' perspective, and failed miserably in each time. Between the Chiefs and the Chargers, asking them to do simple tasks like making a stop on fourth and long, or simply SCORING A TOUCHDOWN over the course of a game is apparently too much to ask.

I know people can probably say the same thing about the Jaguars, but to me at least, the difference there is that the Jaguars don't go into the season expecting to be contenders. Everybody knows their complete ineptitude, and are surprised when they demonstrate the ability to keep a game close.

We aren't getting any help at all. Based on what's happening I could see this happening.

    1. Texans
    2. Pats

    3. Broncos vs 6. Colts (Broncos Win)
    4. Ravens vs 5. Bengals (Bengals Win)

    Div Rd 1.
    Texans vs Bengals

    Div Rd 2.
    Pats vs Broncos

    AFC Championship Game

    Texans vs Pats

The worst would be to have to get through BOTH Brady AND Manning in the Divisional and Championship rounds. I think one is unavoidable but maybe we get lucky and get none.

Yeah, if you're scared of Brady and/or Manning, you should be pulling for the pats and broncos to keep on winning (assuming we stay ahead of them).

If we end up #1 and the broncos and pats end up #2 and #3, that sets us up pretty nicely with a 1st round bye and what will most likely be a relatively easy 2nd round matchup with the ravens/steelers/colts/bengals.

Let Manning and Brady battle it out on the other side of the bracket and then take on the winner at home for a trip to the Superbowl. Much easier than facing both of them consecutively (although I'm still not afraid of Manning...).

exactly, if we don't keep winning then none of this matters. bottom line is I want Texans, Pats, Broncos as 1,2,3 seeds and am scoreboard watching for that. I want Ravens, Colts, Bengals to lose.

also it isn't fear of brady or manning but rather avoiding championship QB pedigree. Here are the playoff contenders and their QBs,

    Manning/Brady/BigBen or Flacco/Dalton/Luck, exactly...

as a side note, i want the Jags and Titans to keep winning (not against us) to hurt their draft positioning.
