Sampson is alright but I dont think he is quite the " leader of men " Morey was looking for when he was going through the hiring process. WOW....... It has been weeks where is Mchale?????????????????????????????
This is going to sound a little conspiracy theorist of me, but I have a feeling that Morey's had a word with Sampson regarding Lin. I noticed that for the first time in his last one or two press conferences he's been trying to say positive stuff about Lin. Before, when he was asked a question about how the team was doing about specific areas, offense, defense etc he would mention other players but not Lin. Only talking about Jeremy when asked a direct question and then his answers were either ambivalent or a subtle negative. But if you listen to his post Knicks interview, he mentions Jeremy in the same breath as Harden, Parsons etc., noting his contribution to the team on offense/defense. I think there's some intriguing stuff going on behind the scenes and Sampson's been told in no uncertain terms that he has to make things work with Lin and inspire some confidence in the kid. Which is not surprising because if Lin does turn out to be a failure at the rockets that's major egg on the faces of Les and Morey. I wonder how much they monitor the forums and other community feedback ala twitter etc. I also wouldn't be too surprised if there wasn't an assistant assigned to monitor fan feedback on chinese/taiwanese forums as well since they're trying to grow their presence there.
Good post. Like you said, it is intriguing. Especially when we are just now hearing about McHale's family situation after weeks.
Well, I'd like to say it's more educated intuition. Go back and watch all of Sampson's pre and post game news conferences. There seems to be, to me, a definite shift in tone.
Wow just read the news on Mchale's daughter on another thread , it sucks and our thoughts and prayers are with the Mchale family.
Sampson is a good coach and a very old school one. You perform you stay on the court you dont you sit. Keeps it simple and that motivates players. Invariably that heps players have that fie in them to earn their spots.
I don't think its a matter of Sampson finally "getting through" to the players. The players are all young and have been working hard from day one. I think its a matter of the players finally learning and practicing enough to execute properly. People continue to make all sorts of comments on the competence (or lack thereof) of McHale and Sampson, but I think its way to early to judge. When the players have learned all the plays that McHale/Sampson want them to learn, and they can execute those plays well, then maybe we can get an idea of how good the coaches are. Even then, you can never be 100% sure if it is due to the coaches or the players. I don't think they've implemented everything they need yet. Harden getting traded to us right before the season start put a monkey wrench in the works. Give them at least another month.

It'll be interesting to see if they can keep up the same type of play after 2-3 days of practice before Tuesday.
We can hope Coach. They may or may not be shooting lights out on Tuesday, but they will be incrementally better at execution.

I have to agree here. Mchales only good thing is defense and Sampson hasnt touched that. Do you honestly think winning game where both teams score above 100 is good defense??
Not a good day to say anything negative about McHale. His daughter, Sasha, died this morning. And you really need to understand offensive pace before you make comments about scoring.
I was suspecting that Sampson was not nice to Lin. I don't know, maybe Lin has a reason to have a chip over his shoulders pertaining to the black culture. Anyone see his youtube videos before he was playing for the warriors? Remember the tweet he had when he said people finally did not mistaken him for a trainer? Remember Woodson? Now Sampson maybe? I hope Morey did give Samspon an earful. Unfortunately I could not read what you read because I watch the rockets thru NBA league pass.
Maybe Sampson only mentions JLin when he has good games, no? You can't expect everyone to treat him like royalty just because you do. And your Sampson=racist posts are gettin real tired real fast.
