It's quite funny how a better defense can really change the opinion of a QB. Not to take away anything from Schaub, whose 4th quarter come-from-behind heroics were awesome to watch, but he had a ton of help. His INT in OT against the Jags would've been the end if our defense hadn't stepped up. Against the Lions, our offense had tons of trouble before the final drive. But our defense on two straight posessions barely kept the Lions out of FG range, keeping us within 7.

In the end, Schaub is still similar in terms of clutchness as he was 2-3 years ago. He just has a chance now with a defense that no longer screw him over.

He had that opportunity in past years and didn't do it. He led the league in passing yards a few years ago but didn't come close to putting up the touchdown numbers Brady has. He's also never been top 5 in qb rating which is something every elite qb has done. Shaub is a good qb but he isn't and never will be elite like Brady.

all comebacks are predicated on defense making stops and keeping the score close. just look at Peyton manning this year. he has put his team in a hole in the first half numerous times. it wasn't until the defense started creating turnovers that gave him an opportunity to mount a comeback.

i can't help but get the feeling you're just giving Schaub a backhanded complimented. he drove the team over 80 yards 2 times in the last quarter of the the last two games to tie. the OT INT against the lions would never have happened if Graham doesn't shank the kick first.

are you a texans fan? you want us to win the lombardi trophy right? you're going to need schaub.
as elite as brady has been, i bet you the hoody wishes he could go back in time when brady wasn't impregnating models. when brady would throw for 230 yards 1 or 2tds, the running games controlled the clock and the defense did the rest.

If we win the superbowl, schaub's 4,000 yards with 25 tds> than brady's 1,000,000 yards and 5000 tds he is throwing this season. =/

when schaub gets the protection, he can pick apart any defense like the best of them. If the protection breaks, he will get knocked down and miss receivers like the best of them do when they face those types of D's.(not many around)

It's all perception . During the championship years all the way to 2007 Brady's rating has been a boring 87.7
I miss watching tyrone poole and ty law going to work on opposing offenses.

For real. The only guy in the league that plays just as well(if not better) under pressure is Aaron Rodgers. That's why he's the best though.

Except the Lions and Jags scored 30+ points each.

In my view the offense has been bailing out the defense.

Yeah, but if our D doesn't step up after Schaub's INT in OT against JAX, or knock DET out of FG range twice at the end of the Detroit game, we'd be singing a different tune. Our defense has come up HUGE late in our last 2 wins. That's the difference between our close games this year, and our close games in past years.

The defense has seen it's chinks when limiting scores, but they're still capable of getting takeaways. Wining the turnover battle is a strong factor in consistent winning.

You can say the same thing about Schaub and the offense. They have come back after our D has given up scores. If Schaub and the O hadn't made a comeback, we'd be singing a different tune.

Schaub scares me when the Texans have to come from behind, especially against a good team. Sorry if that opens me up to ridicule.

I think you misinterpreted my point. The offense has always been good. I'm just pointing out that the reason we're winning theses close games now is because we have a defense to go with our offense.

He has a knack for throwing an INT or pick 6 at the worse possible time and it has showed up the past 2 games.

what's a good team? like the denver broncos? manning didn't have to play cornerback against schaub, though it looked like it. an 8-2 ravens team? that he carved up? or maybe the Patriots.. they must have the best defense since brady also plays every spot on defense.

These "good" teams, at least the ones we will be facing, have defenses that can easily be taken care of...even the mighty broncos too.

    funny posts in here.

previous years, schaub wasnt clutch, because a kicker missed a 36 yd FG, and the texans lost the game.

other game, schaub wasnt clutch, because the defense gave a TD to mark sanchez when the jets had to go on a 80-yard drive with 50 seconds on the clock and no timeouts for the jets.

now, schaub scores 14 pts in the 4th qtr, and did a good job in OT vs jaguars, but the defense was the one that allowed schaub to do that.

now schaub has a 97-yard drive to take the game to OT, (it would have ended in regulation, but graham missed a FG)
and the defense was the one that allowed schaub to have a comeback.

so make up your mind haters.

This post isn't directed at you as much as it is the entire thread but:

Tom brady threw a pick in the Super Bowl last year on an under thrown pass, bigger than any stage schaub has been on. I'm pretty sure no one in Boston is complaining how he costs them the game. It is one throw. Schaub takes care of the ball well compared to the rest of the quarterbacks in the league. Stop with all the B.S. More importantly, who are you gonna get to take his place that would do better than him (7-10th best in the league right now)? None, because you cannot get them. Do you want to put Yates in? Who came in, went 2 for 5 and threw a pick in his only action this year. Don't think so. He isn't Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, and you will never get one of them. You have a 7-10th best Qb who does a hell of a job, support him instead of calling out all his weaknesses because he isn't a hall of fame quarterback.
