Honestly, he had no choice. KL is yapping about "just wanting to win", which is code for "looking for any excuse to leave", so the Pups are desperate to upgrade any way they can. And how many times have we seen teams make this mistake?
Most of the people here want him to "quit" are for his sake/well being. It's hard to see a person force the issue which may lead to an injury that will change his life after basketball (forever in crutches/on a wheelchair for example). However, if the T-Wolves or any other team will bank on him recovering and he indeed recovers then it's all good. Also, if his actions will result in a serious career-ending injury but at the end of the day it's still worth it for him then you have to respect that and his love for the game. Good points by PinkTacos and Asian Sensation btw.
I remember how much a beast he was from the houston and portland playoff series in 09 and it really is a shame that he will never go back to that form, probably would be the best sg today if it wasnt for injuries.
It's pretty close if you ask me. Considering that Harden is averaging more points than Roy ever did even in his prime and doing it at 23 years old as well. I mean Roy came into the league at 22 years of age. This is why most people are saying that Harden has a pretty good shot at becoming a elite SG especially since there is a lack of them. But Roy was really good in his prime, not taking away from that. Just saying that Harden is also very good and is not in his prime yet.
Harden is not on roy's level. From a statistical standpoint, sure you could compare the two, BUT from a superstar level (the things you can't measure) Harden hasn't proved anything. Roy has had more signature moments (he's played BIGGER than harden), has carried a team consistently in crucial moments. Harden isn't even on Manu's level yet. Right now I'd call Harden an elite player but not a superstar. Manu and Roy were superstars.
Manu has been terrible so far this season, even in controlled minutes. Harden is much better than Manu right now, who is catching up to his age.
We will see. It's not like Roy accomplished a lot of things that Harden can never accomplish. 3x all-star and 2nd All Nba team is the extent of his personal accomplishments. His team accomplishments is the 2nd round of the playoffs and Harden has already been farther basically playing starting minutes and as the 2nd/3rd option on a finals team. I just said that it's pretty close. Roy was a great player, but he still wasn't close to Wade or Kobe when he was in his prime. i
Maybe in 3-4 years we will see, but Harden as of now has nothing on 2009 Roy. I don't think Roy ever reached his prime anyway, he was an all star in his second season, and in his third season he was already a franchise player taking over games for his young team. He pretty much single handedly took two games off of us in the 2009 playoffs with Battier and Artest taking turns guarding him. I'm not saying Harden won't be as good because he's only 23, but so far in Harden's career, he hasn't even shown close to the level of overall consistent playing equaling to Roy's.
Anybody who thinks Harden is equal to Brandon Roy in his prime just didn't see Roy enough. No way in the world. Harden is young so we'll see where he ends up. To equal Roy, one thing Harden has to develop is a killer mid-range game. He's still mostly 3-pointers or at the rim.
This is not about equal but to say that Harden isn't close? Sounds like nostalgia is having an effect on him. Roy wasn't even close to the true superstars at that position then, Wade and Kobe. Right now Harden is on pace to have a year better than any year Roy has had. Was already proven to be clutch and play a big role on a team that went to the Finals. I don't see how it's not close at all. If we were talking about Kobe or Wade yeah...but we are talking about Roy. As for whether Roy was in his prime or not, well since his career has taken a downturn then his best years are now considered his prime. It's unfair because of injuries but it is what it is.
