Not too worried. McCain was considered by many scouts the best nickel CB in the NFL last year. He's having a bad season but I trust the coaching staff to get the best out of him. Jackson is coming into his own.
McCain was great on some plays and bad on others. But he seemed like he ended up on TEs a lot, I would almost never expect him to win that battle.
Usually the less tackles the better for a CB, on the other hand for a strong safety it is okay to have a lot of tackles. Just pointing it out. Joseph is having a bad year mainly because of the groin and hamstring issues.
That's what I feel like Ive seen from him all season. He'll make a good play...and then suck on another...and then suck on another...oh, nice play all of a sudden! He's very inconsistent, imo, as you have no idea what kind of coverage you get from him...it will range from pure suckitude to very nice.
I don't think McCain has changed at all this year from last. People just figured him out now. Last year they ran a bunch of slants against him, and we all learned how good he was at guarding those. This year they are running mostly crosses against him with bigger receivers, and the size plus speed mismatch is really hurting him. He's like 5'9 so he has even more trouble trying to tackle those TEs and big WRs once they get their hands on the ball. All these things we are seeing this year, and teams have had success against us for the most part in the middle of the field short to medium range passing game.
yep, mccain does end up covering TE a lot and it's really bad matchup for him QB can just throw a jump ball toward him and the TEs just go up and get it.
Why throw jump balls to TE when they are beating him on mere Out-Patterns alone. Haven't seen him very often get beat by teams throwing it up to the guy he is defending. I have, however, seen him get beat by a slow Tony Scheffler on a headfake and cut. Terrible ball instincts. That is what has come for Kareem this year. He isn't particularly playing his man any differently but he is jumping routes and making plays on the ball.
In the print version of Chronicle today under Texans Report page C5. (sorry couldn't find it online) I think this is huge. So the coach didn't put Kareem on Johnson, Kareem did.
Yes. It's huge. Why didn't the coach see that Ball was getting abused and make the switch themselves?
Megatron's going to get his.. well because he's Megatron.. thank God we have Dre. Kareem looked good.. we need to get JJo back out there soon though otherwise we're going to have some more shootouts down the road.
what happened to all the nay-sayers? Not coming back to eat some crow? At least I got the balls to give Kareem props unlike you jim johns who are hiding from this thread now that Kareem is pretty good.
Did y'all see Brandon Harris blow up that punt returner? Holy cow, he put a lick on. Do you think if he was there a second later they would have called a defenseless receiver penalty?
I'll admit calling for his head several times in the past as well as wanting Asomugah over JJo. I was completely and totally wrong and I bow before the awesome power of the Texans front office.
Harris definitely did not hit him early. The ball hit the returners hands before Harris made contact. Wasn't a penalty imo
They called it a penalty for him not having time to make a football move. That is why they call it a defenseless receiver.
Please, if he would've ankle tackled him there wouldn't have been a flag. Harris was coming full speed and he timed it perfectly, the receiver should have called fair catch.
