It's fine to be disappointed with Graham, but before you cut him, there has to be somebody better you can replace him with. As you said, they brought in 3 kickers and apparently none of them were better than Graham. How many free agent kickers are out there that would be better? Don't just say Graham sucks and that anyone would be better, that's a mindless cop out. If there were a free agent kicker out there that was better, he'd probably be in the league. They probably brought in the 3 best they could find and they weren't good enough. There might still be someone out there, but the odds are against it.

Yeah, I'm not blaming him at all for the 51 yarder. I do blame him for his kickoffs that end up getting returned past the 20 yard line. Thankfully it looks like changes are going to be made soon and if not maybe we can draft a decent one next year. Just gotta hope this doesn't end up biting us in our asses come playoff time, I don't think I can take another Jacoby Jones-like debacle.

Our special teams as a group is just horrible. Only some incredibly favorable calls saved the ST from being this weeks scapegoat.

No duh. So you think the Texans have a crystal ball and look into the future of this season and see that Graham has missed a few? We've had tryouts for kickers in the previous week so it's not like the Texans are sitting on their hands doing nothing. But Graham is still the guy for now.

Yeah. I'm not blaming us for signing him. Just the fact that we have had tryouts proves that we are trying to replace him. Obviously, he's our kicker for now.

Your statement said he sucks. So the Texans, the losers that they are, keep on deciding to keep sucky Graham on the team after 11 games. They must be doing something wrong.

Why would they be having tryouts for another kicker if Graham was good? Obviously I'm happy that we got out with the wins. I just don't want Graham to cost us in the playoffs.

They always have tryouts for players of different positions every week. It just happened to be kickers that week.

Ok. I guess I'll just have to hope that Graham gets his accuracy back

I really have so much faith in this team...this season has turned from something remarkable to something special...Shayne made it when he got his mulligan...and thats all that matters...

If Shayne Graham hits a game winning amazing field goal in the playoffs or in the super bowl then you guys can bump this thread and berate me for being an idiot and calling out Graham. I started this thread, I'll accept the potential consequences.

However, I just don't think that its that unreasonable to gripe about a guy that is clearly sub-par, at least this season.

Just keeping their options open and seeing what's out there. The tryouts doesn't mean it's inevitable that Graham will get the boot, but just that the Texans are seeing what's out there. If Graham would have missed that last one and we would have lost, it would have ramped up the decision making but even then what else is out there available that would be dependable/better? All the good kickers have jobs, we're left to sift through the scrap heap.

Not going to fire a guy who just made the game winning field goal.

That's silly. a) he booted a couple into the endzone when he didn't line drive them b) if you think the line drives/squibs are his decisions, that's just dumb c) how are you blaming him when the coverage team has a lot to do with it and it's been a known fact since last year that our coverage teams have been subpar?

Give me a break. Yeah, he's not the best, but he's not the worst in the history or even in the league currently. Kickers lose games, it happens to every team. The coach knows his capabilities and will use him accordingly.
