I don't know much about Rodgers, however I do like his philosophy of giving young talents some PT. I disagree with his transfer policy (obviously). It's unfortunate that we don't have the players who are able to run his system. Maybe once have the proper players, we can see if he's really a good manager. Time will tell, I think we should give him at least 3 seasons. As for Henry, I like what he's done to LFC early on. Essentially saving the club from possibly joining the ranks of Leeds Utd. Plus he's keen on keeping our identity. However sometimes I wonder how different things would be had LFC been bought by a sheikh. The $$ Rodgers would have access to would be beyond our dreams. The hell with financial fair play
Thanks Jontro.I've been catching back some soccer after a lenthy break.I'm pretty glad he bought the team from our previous awful owners too....the idea is fantastic but will he interfere too much? I really one an EPL title b4 Stevie G retires but I'm content if we are back at top3 one day.
I most certainly hope Liverpool will never win the PL again. So far its been holding up! Liverpool just needs to spend money on Sahin kind of player not Downing and Henderson... Think Henderson was like £20m? United bought RVP for £4m more and look at the difference. Good luck to Liverpool, I like watching the rivalry that was there till Rafa left.
John Henry is a good business man. I hope that doesn't mean he won't pump some much needed funds for Rodger's new recruits. He can make LFC profitable, but I'm afraid we're in for some years of mediocre signings because he's not an oil sheikh. I really hope he doesn't take the moneyball route. That ish doesn't work in soccer.
Suarez has been money 3-0 Liverpool - Wigan I read before that Red Sox does some negative pr for their former players/staffs/coaches,and that honestly got me worried for some time. I do think he tried to understand liverpool culture and be connected to fans, and admitted his mistake(missing out a striker aka Dempsey). http://kopworld.net/lfc-news/open-letter-to-fans-from-john-henry/ I missed out about a year or half.what i get what happened during last year is they put money but some of those are poor signings.
or was i too disconnected with the club?lol...I'm searching back all those vids rit now and 1yr++ articles. It seems like years we have rafa ,alonso, and then sissoko
Yeah what happened was that they gave money to an already senile Kenny. But most of that money came from player sales, though... so not really that much from Henry's own pockets. I still worry that he'll be too worried about making a profit rather than produce a champions league team. Especially after getting LerBon on board.
What a great weekend for City. With Chelsea and Man U going down and City regaining some of last seasons form with a 5-0 victory against Villa, City move into sole possession of 1st in the Premire League for the first time this season now 12 matches in. Hopefully they can ride this momentum to European victories against Madrid and Dourtmund. While that may not be enough to get them into the Round of 16, it would ive them a hell of a shot and be a good morale boost for the team to take going into next years Champion's Leauge knowing they can knock off top European teams.
Maybe they need to sell Balotelli to PSG or Milan and find some better defenders instead of trying to buy up every forward on the market. Aguero and Tevez are great together, and Dzeko is a very solid 3rd option. Not sure what they were doing at the last transfer period. Garcia / Scott Sinclair / Rodwell / Maicon... not much help there.
If I were a manager, I would stay the hell away from Chelsea like an ugly fat chick with pimples and aidz. Abramovic doesn't know the meaning of patience nor loyalty. Difficult to root for a team with a trigger happy owner like that, regardless of the funding he pumps into the club.
that's what i meant on my previous posts when I said a rich owner may intefere too much.I thought he finally settled down.guess not.I'm wondering how chelsea fans put up with him. This man treat his club like a toy.
Pep said he wanted to take a sabbatical for at least a full season or more. He left in great terms with Barcelona so he's free to do what he wants. Knowing his personality and finacial situation (confident, relaxed and secure) I don't think Pep takes another job until 2014.
With Benitez getting a 6 month contract as interim, I think the goal is PG.... However, if PG doesn't come and Chelsea is stuck with Benitez, what do they do?? Sack him next December??? Then what????
With the good, comes the bad when you talk about Roman Abramovich. He is a bad owner, way too trigger happy. Honestly he's like Jerry Jones on steroids. His money has made Chelsea relevant, that is true. But I can't see any manager wanting to join him. If I were Pep, I wouldn't join Chelsea because of this very reason. The only way I join is if I have a commitment that I will be given at least 2 seasons to perform before they can even fire me. Roman needs to take a back seat. That Torres transfer was a classic example of an owner forcing a move. You don't fire somebody who just won you the first UCL a few months ago. Sure, it was probably a fluke, but at least give RDM a season... Even AVB was given more time. The club needs stability, not a revolving door of managers. As a Chelsea fan, I hope Pep signs on not mainly because he's a good coach, but RA would respect him enough that I don't see him firing Pep after a run of bad performances, but would give him enough chances to succeed.
I was reading one chelsea forum and some of the posters actually support Abramovich's decision. Is that a majority among chelsea fans? Good luck to you guys anyway
I could see where they are coming from. It all starts with the belief that last year's win was a fluke and had nothing major to do with RDM. I can go with that, and if that is so, they never felt that RDM was the right manager for the job, and only gave him an offer because they felt compelled to because they won. Since they only extended the offer to him as a thank you, you know that he is going to be on a short leash, because they never truly believed he had the right qualifications. I still think they could have given RDM a season. The team has no striker.
