Pinning people in jails for life without a trial sound about right for Americans. (looking at you Bradley Manning).

If they're not Americans though, murder and torture are surprisingly more routine---

it's funny how the "black sites" and CIA interrogations have these leaked reports of deaths here and there (hard to deny when your corpse is displayed for the world to see in the photobombing scandal of a decade). Makes you wonder what's behind the veil of classified documents, and how many more are dead or dying in CIA black sites.

Anyways, it's a losing preposition when you're trying to compare a nation that is supposed to the greatest in the world to a group of ragged rogues, and an even bigger loser when you realize some of the notions of supposed civilization just aren't there.

Wrong to pin it all on Hamas. Hamas was elected because of Israel's barbaric foreign policy. The 2007 Lebonese invasion was an unrecognized human rights atrocity. I thought they made great strides in 2009 with Operation Cast Lead, but now it seems they are going down a dark path again.

Btw I'm not totally anti-Israel here. I think adeelsidique's defense of the dragging of a body (or if not a defense, an ad-hominem attack) is frankly ****ing crazy. I'm generally pretty supportive of conservative foreign policy, ironically. Okay with drones and the Yemen assassination. I just think a vehement defense of Israel is misguided...they also near responsibility.

23 children killed so far in Gaza.

At this rate, in the past week the Israeli government will have killed more children than the 11,000 Gaza-based rockets have killed Israelis since 2001 (about 30 Israelis dead since 2001, includes non-civilians and Israeli Arabs).

You are heartless human being. Who cares who is to blame, there are countless innocent people including kids who are caught in the crossfire.

there has to be a point where you look in the mirror and realize there is a certain level of humanity you aren't willing to cross.

Comeon man. Making absolute statements like that is ridiculous, especially when you're willing to say it in any case.

I'm pretty sure if a soldier walked into a house and killed everyone there for no reason you would say the same thing.

Nope. But if they shoot rockets at Israeli civilians and then hide next to schools and hospitals - it's Hamas' responsibility. They WANT these images. They want these children dead so they can use them for their propaganda war. In an ideology and culture where these kids are "martyrs", that's what happens.

It says 15 injured...haaretz says 10 injured. It doesn't sound like anyone died. It does however explain the sirens I heard. That was near my old office...glad I work at home.
