He maybe getting past his peak...but perhaps the Rockets could consider David West...has a solid post game...good rebounder...with a decent mid range game...

Considering that Indiana is gonna lose him this offseason, perhaps the Rockets should seek on trading PPat, TD and a 2nd round pick for West??

    Thoughts?

hmm, Swift isn't rugged to me. I was thinking more along the lines of Demarcus or kenneth fared.

No way, David West's best years are long gone. I admit he is better then PPat but David doesn't have that fire any more.

Oh, thank God. For a second there I thought you were referring to an unobtainable player.

    (dramatic pause)

If Bledsoe was on the market... I'd trade Lin or even Parsons.

Why would Indiana lose him this offseason?

West's contract with Indiana expires after this season. The Pacers brought him in as just a two year free agent mercenary to provide some mid-range punch for a roster that lacked it.

With Granger's long injury, Paul George's inability to make up for the scoring Granger gave them, and Roy Hibbert's suspicious post-contract regression, the Pacers sparkle a lot less than they once did. It's unclear if David West still wants to hang around.

Certainly Indiana has intimated that they want to be a major player in the free agency market this off-season, and it is unlikely that that plan also includes re-upping David West at $10 million per season, when the opportunity to extend him further already presented itself and was passed on two years ago.

West is one of the best if not THE best pick N pop players in the league, an elite skill that is often overlooked by all but the most observant of fans and sports writers.

He'd be an excellent pickup for the Rockets, but again, a lot of that is contingent on how he fits into Indiana's future plans, and whether West himself wants to be part of a club that is bad even by Eastern Conference standards.

I don't remember the Pacers showing any such intention to replace him.
They made that short deal simply because 2 years / 10 mil a year was the most acceptable deal for both sides in those circumstances. West was coming off a bad injury, so it seemed very risky to give him more than 2 years at that price, and West preferred a short deal over less money per year (he refused 3 years / 9 mil from Boston).
West is the leader of the team, he's been as important as any other player in Indiana and they don't have the money to find a better replacement. Short of Hansbrough suddenly breaking out, or someone offering West a big raise that the Pacers don't feel they can afford, I don't see the Pacers going in other direction.

I'm not sure either guy is what the Clips are looking for. Parsons would be a pretty good fit, but the Clips already have a gazillion wings.

Sterling is cheap and Odom has sucked pretty bad, so that's one angle to look at in a trade for Bledsoe.

Maybe something like this, with the Bulls sending the Clippers some kind of protected first rounder.

Bulls get under the tax, Clips get rid of Odom's, save money and get multiple pieces that fit their team for Bledsoe.

that's interesting. Pistons 2005 backcourt off the bench.
I wouldn't do that deal if I'm the Clippers (doesn't save any $ worth mentioning and a huge loss in assets), but Sterling does seem to have history of getting mad at players wasting his money and forcing bad moves. He'd have Kyrie Irving on his bench right now, if he didn't. So, who knows.

You can take Lin out of that "apart from" statement. If anyone is willing to take on his silly contract and give back anything for it, you take it. I'd take Aaron Brooks back from Sac if they would take it. At least he could hit a wide open 3 if need be.

How good is West on defense?? Always thought he was pretty similar to Scola, but I didn't know how West was on D.

He's a defensive upgrade over Scola, but that isn't saying much.

I love the guy, but Luis Scola had to have been the league's single-most dunked-on power forward of all time.

Luis Scola has been dunked on so much, he can speak intelligently about what the crotch tastes like of every starting power forward in the league.

    On Kevin Garnett:

Scola: "Tangy, with a hint of nutmeg."

    On Dirk Nowitzki:

    Scola: "Like brussels sprouts."

    On Blake Griffin:

Scola: "Sour but with notes of cinnamon."

    bump

The Rockets have a banger in Greg Smith & he can cover most power forward he is just not bing used at this time. Things will look a lot better when Patterson is moved. I think the front office is waiting to make a steal of deal; and make a push at the end of te season after the play-off are no longer possable. Why else would Toney Dougles be getting any playing time and as a "closer" at that?

We need a point 5X more than a power forward IMO.

Please help out if you can. I, as a west coasters, can not wait to see him play live in front of me either in Lakers or LA Clippers. We want Linsanity 2 to start again in West Coast. Please do yell out a trade.
