To me, the record is irrelevant at this point in time in rocket's organization. We have a lot of young and raw players with great potential, arguably the highest ceiling in the league and need to use this season to develop them properly. Sure would love to make the playoffs but we can consistenly play like we did throughout most of our game against Portland, I would be ecstatic. The only question is do we have the right coaching staff for the job, and one clear thing is Sampson is not that guy.
I don't know why though. Pau/Howard work pretty well together. Against us they were going "horns" w/ each of the bigs on the elbows and Kobe ball-handling. Pretty effective even when Kobe is off the floor as well (though limited sample size).
D. Motiejunas 28:56 8-11 0-2 1-2 +19 1 6 7 0 2 3 4 2 0 17 S. Machado 25:58 3-11 1-2 3-5 +13 0 1 1 7 5 2 5 1 2 10 D-MO beasting. Machado Assisting. Yeah!
i think he could fit in very well with us... won't be easy to match salaries though http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=axmby6r
and how do you know samson's is not the guy? it seems kinda knee-jerk reaction...he is kinda rookie as well give him some time...we played pretty well under him..rookies got introduced... many players are getting better and better from game to game in front of our eyes...if we had better referee calls on 2-3 occasions we would be easily 7:3 now and everybody would sung praises and those few of samson's debatable decisions nobody would even mention...
Greg Smith is on 3rd position in the league according to player efficiency rating PER http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/statistics
Don't get your panties in a bunch, Lin isn't going anywhere THIS season. I think Morey would trade him that fast after apologizing to him for letting him go last season? He will give himself at least a season before Lin is considered for a trade.
For Lin's sake, I hope he gets traded........ After reading about the train wreck over Lowry and Dragic, and the players bolting without thinking twice, the Rockets' offensive system apparently takes decent point guards and runs them into the ground. (I think Lin has had at at least twice as many of his shots blocked this season than all of last season. At times it looks like he's brought a knife to a gun fight.) The coaches apparently don't realize how essential setting screens in the half court is for any offense's success. If the screens do NOT improve and increase, the shooting will NOT improve. (The only player who can consistently shoot well under such conditions is Carlos Delfino.) This is death for almost any backcourt player. Most fast breaks are triggered by poor and predictable shot selection by the opposition. When there are no screens, which in turn causes contested jump shots, the opposing players don't respect it, and then cherry pick to the other end for easy fast break baskets. (The Lakers have historically exploited this. I'd rather see a 24 second violation than a forced shot against that team.) The Rockets strength is the defense, but the forced shots and opponents' cherry picking erases this strength. This has become epidemic while Sampson took over as coach. I think Harden will also get run into the ground, for the same reason, unless there is a coaching change. His success in ISO the first two games was more a fluke than normal, but the coaches have fallen in love with it. (This is no different from Carmelo Anthony's post-up game. It looks unstoppable when it works, but it becomes fool's gold when defensed well.) Due to scouting, he has not been the same since the second game this season.
Hahaha. Go ahead and trade JLin. It just may take another trade/waiver for Linsanity 2.0 to start again. May be Les and Morey are willing to say "sorry to let you go earlier " again and again.
Whether you want lin traded for ha own sake or because you don't believe In him..whatever the case, he is NOT getting traded this year. Morey and Les will look like idiots if they do. When was the last time you saw a high profile player getting traded within a season of joining the team. It is just not gonna happen. So deal with Lin as a rocket this year. He will need to find a way to adjust his game to the rockets coaching philosophy as will the coaches to his.
Please don't even mention Greg smith that dude is a absolute non factor I don't know why he is even in the rotation we need a better back up big man why aldrich no play?
Are u serious? You think Sampson is a good coach? After what he did against Miami (asik out for crucial moments at the end), harden ( getting away from what works in the game and letting him go ISO and take bad shot and) and Lin ( sitting him out the entire OT in what was his best game of this year, taking him out when he is in rhythm to break out own momentum) - u think he is going to get better? We are a team of young players . We need a wise experienced pro coach to teach them. We can't afford to have a rookie coach who clearly doesn't have eye for talent ( u just can't say TD is better than Lin) and continues to look clueless.
I think if you step back and look at Lin's game objectively, he is not playing as horribly as people think. He just doesn't pass the "eye test" because he is stinking it up in an area that people care about the most -scoring/ shooting. And all of us lin fans realize that a lot of LOH here probably never got to Lin play Lisanity as closely as we have last season. They probably saw the highlights but I highly doubt they saw the whole game. It is like myself who really don't know how old lowery or dragic was last season because I couldn't care less. So to be fair to LOH's who only know of Lin from some espn highlights, I agree Lin is not playing up to par right now and looks especially bad because he is missing a lot of shots. However, if his shooting ever comes back - watch out - a lot of minds will change.
1. it seems to me your too harsh a critic and focus too much on not so important details instead on a greater picture... 2. have you ever coached a team? 3. do you think experienced coach will not make any mistakes? 4. mistakes you cite may be mistakes and maybe not, depending on goals of the coach, experimentation is sometimes more important than winning 5 making few mistakes don't make you unwise 6 being rookie doesn't make you unwise, unexperienced or bad coach 7 sometimes is better to stick with less good coach instead of changing coaches constantly or in the middle of the season
