Only reason was b/c he was brought here to be a top-tier player for us, same way Jeremy Lin is. As fans, we just basically gotta know how good these guys are. Ariza was a great role player, and that's all he was and is. Jeremy Lin will basically be a really good role player if we have other great players surrounding him. But we're expecting him to be one of the top 2-3 players for this team, which he really isn't. Harden is the only player we have brought in since the Yao era that should be judged on star status. The rest are simply role players AT BEST.
Well, we had a pretty tough schedule and I certainly thought we would go 3-7 like last year. Last year we had the same issues on both offense and defense but we managed to turn it around by all-star break
You have a really good team if Lin is your third or 4th best player. Even harden isn't the best player on this team & he likely won't be. Ideally the best player should be Asik then the PF then Harden then Lin then Parsons. I know a lot of people love Harden but he hasn't been playing particularly well either it's surprising that not many people are talking about it but it is to be expected. Lin is the type of player that if you surround him with talent he can put it all together with his playmaking & aggression.
Trade deadline can't come fast enough. Morey's bound to make some moves, right? This team can't go on like this, unless tanking is his goal. At this rate, only Pistons and Wizards will be worse.
I had to go to church tonight, so I missed the game. Just wanted to ask a few questions. 1. Was Lin running "true" point for once... or still not? 2. Did we play T-Jones any tonight? 3. How was the fluidity of our offense/defense tonight? Any progress? 4. I don't care that we're losing... as long as we are losing, but in a positive-developmental way.
I think so. Harden will win the Rockets just enough games to keep them out of the top three, and the Toronto pick is gone. Speaking of Toronto, they are already three games out of the top eight. Gee that pick would have been nice to keep. But Les has a name he can put on billboards, so it's cool.
The venom spewed at Alston was b/c he played way too much, for a guy who shot so bad. He averaged like 35+ minutes a game with us lol.
True, he's a freak of nature. I wish Les would convince Dream to come on board as some sort of special assistant so he could take this kid under his wing for the next few years. If he refined his post game & developed a consistent jumper he'd be a problem for opposing bigs.
1)Yes he was. Went 5-15 from the field 0-2 from 3, 13 points 3 assists 6 rebounds 3 TO's 0 steals. Had a several really aggressive drives which was good to see had to out run his opponent cause none of the bigs set screens. 2) Yes we did he played well. 8 rebounds & 10 points I believe. Had a few rookie mistakes. I think he deserves playing time but can't start yet. He too struggles to set screens. 3) Nobody could hit any shots tonight. Defense was non existant it annoys me that we keep doubling in the post & leave the 3 point shooters open. Asik was off tonight probably cause he was tired. Air balled a FT & just missed wide open shots that Lin was setting him up for like 4 of them was really bad. 4) McHale needs to be back ASAP. We also missed Carlos out there & a healthy Harden.
How can you call the rookies who haven't even had significant PT role players at best. And averaging 18/6/4 in 20 games was Lin at his best. Are those just role player numbers? Knee jerk post AT BEST.
Yah, but who could have predicted that Lowry would get knocked out 4 games into the season? With Lowry in the lineup, their record would definitely be better. Heck, right now players are dropping like flies. Love, Rubio, Dirk, Marion, Bynum's knees, Brandon Roy getting surgery, Kyrie Irving is now out for a month, etc, etc. You'd think it was a compressed season or something...
Well, that IS the plan as far as I know... Asik the Center once he's finished developing. Harden as a scoring option. Multiple promising young players. <insert big trade player> That would make Lin the 3rd or 4th option, which is where he'll probably end up at least for this year and possibly next year depending on his actual ceiling. Given his improvements vs last season (not counting his shooting woes), I wouldn't put significant improvement over the next 2 seasons past him.
Harden is asked to be a #1 option and he's putting up 26 points on 19 shots. Although his fg% is also declining, but so far he's been living up to the billing. It's VERY VERY hard being a #1 perimeter option on a team basically with a bunch of perimeter players with no inside presence. McGrady only had 1 year where he shot over 45% for us. So that should tell you something. Kobe averages 45% for his career. Lin had a great 5-7 game stretch. After that initial stretch, he fell back to earth, esp. after that Miami game last year where they made a point to guard him like he was an all-star. Harden has had a few years of proven play as a #3 option, and sometimes #2. Lin has attributes of a role player. I don't see anything that would remotely make him a star. He can't shoot, is not very quick/explosive/strong, can't get to the basket without a screen, can't create his own shot off the dribble consistently... We have to tamper our expectations of Jeremy Lin, just like we did with Ariza.
Lol. You need to taper your expectations. All of you thinking Lin would be this star were dreaming in the first place. "Linsanity" was a fluke. He's going to average about what he did after that MIA game last year before the injury. That's the real Lin. The guy is average a best unless he's with Dantoni with no stars on the team.
