I am not disagreeing with you at all. Omer isn't the best PNR big man but he is all we have right now so might a well use him. Rockets would be so much better off starting with a screen for Lin and having him hit the roll man or swing to Harden In the first 9 games of the year Harden runs 19 pick and rolls a game and Lin runs 9 a game. Should be a lot more balance.

During Lin's stretch in NY, people did not know about him or understand how to stop him. Now that he's had all the publicity, he has a huge target on his back. He needs to expand his game quickly or the Houston fans will let him know quickly.

This is exactly what's frustrating with the coaching staff. It almost seems like the game plan is to live and die with Harden every game. Not asking for Lin to be the number one option on offense but to just have a more equal distribution on who would create for the offense and not try to burn Harden out playing 40mins a game and almost exclusively going to him especially during close games.

To be fair to the coaching staff, they were forced to incorporate Harden on the fly and are a bit infatuated w/ Harden's ISO after the first two games. They have a 4 day break between NYK and Toronto. Hopefully the offensive philosophy gets tweaked a bit there if they are seeing what we are seeing. Moreover, it's just too early to be asking for this offense to mesh properly. The coaches need more time to see what works. A 10 game sample isn't considered enough to start flip-flopping strategies either or teams would be panicking every few games. Not saying people are having knee-jerk reactions; i understand the frustration when it's so clear to us. But a bit more patience might be in order.

Do you even watch the Rockets games? How can you come up with that assessment when it's obvious that Lin hasn't even had the chance to be the playmaker and have the freedom he once used to? Most of our offense runs through Harden. Lin averages like 9 shots a game and mostly being relegated to a spot up shooter role by our coaching staff which isn't exactly one of his strengths.

I hope you're right. They have also seen how lethal Harden was with OKC running the p&r.

Honestly, i'm kinda hoping we would lose a bunch of games in a row just to send a message to our coaching staff that a change in the strategy is needed. I'd rather lose games and see our players being utilized to their strengths and win and witness players like Lin being misused.

Zach Lowe makes a good point:
some ppl in chat complain incessantly about Lin not being aggressive enough w/ finishing or not putting up more floaters (IMO less floaters, the better); he is passing more after he penetrates and honestly, as he should since both Parsons and Morris are hitting around 40% on 3's. But as Zach points out, if he passes out when he successfully penetrates, then the only times he takes shots are when he can't penetrate far enough in or when he's taking outside jumpers - thus his low FG% - he's only taking shots when he absolutely has to (i.e. bad shots, late in the clock). If he did finish at the rim when he successfully penetrated, he would have more pts/higher FG%, at the expense of the offensive flow/touches for our "sharpshooters."

I guess the point is - it's pretty complex and not very cut and dry as to why his shots are not falling. I do agree w/ the board in the general sense that Lin should facilitate on offense and that Harden has not been used enough as a spot-up shooter on open shots.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt if you can answer this question..

Name one below average player in the entire history of the NBA who got hot and put up those numbers and won the same number of games as Jeremy Lin did last season.

If you have seen him against the more physical guards, you can see his comfort level diminish. Now granted he had 18 games of glory, but a full season will tell if can evolve his game into one that controls flow of the offense or one that makes him out to be an expensive backup.

Here let me help you out a little..

Point guard Jeremy Lin averaged 18.2 points and 7.7 assists in 25 starts last season with the New York Knicks.

Now name one, yes just one "BELOW AVERAGE POINT GUARD" in the entire history of the NBA who put up the same numbers and the same amount of games as Lin did, in his first season as a starter. Remember, has to be his first season as a NBA starter.
