A defensive anchor is the Center, not the pg. Quit turning this into a Lin bashing thread.

Lakers played the perfect game...and exposed all Houston coaching staff mistakes...

1 - Why only against on Houston games, others players had career-highs (Kobe, Aldrigde, Batum, Damian, Lebron ... etc)?
==> answer:we just play one by one defense, NO double guards when some player is hot, or other defensive strategy, our defense to 3-points shot is zero...

2 - We dont have ANY play to run? ==>
answer: NO, our offense is just pass, pass, pass, when anybody is open so shot...

3 - Why to play the starters so much massive minutes?
==> answer: because we dont use ALL the bench, TJones was awesome tonight, why we never used him before? (except on the detroit game).

4 - Why our rotation IS SO POOR?
==> answers: so our strategy to rest our starters is take off everybody at 5minutes of 2ndQ? and at 5minutes of the 3rdQ? and play just the bench? In all the games? its so easy the others team draw a defensive and offensive set this way...

5 - in all last seconds quarters,we need call a time out and execute ANY play to practice for clutch games...

And much more, im tired to type so much.

Sorry COACHING STAFF , but ALL YOU FAIL BIG.

I can't believe the amount of hate Lin gets on this board.

So the offense is Lin's fault and the defense is also Lin's fault. I guess your pathetic life is Lin's fault as well.

Defense is a TEAM thing. Don't blame it on a single player!

Bingo! For being the youngest team in the NBA I've been pleasantly surprised at how good the defense is. The last game I thought the defense was solid throughout, there's only so much you can do when Batum turns into MJ :(
And not to discredit the Lakers who shot very well, but I did however felt that today the team just looked sluggish or at least not as energized as the Blazers' game.

    Look at this jackass lol
It's understandable for us 2012 "LOFs" joining the forum to continue to follow and support him but it's just sad how there's an equal amount of lonely trolls who only join to magnify his mistakes and use any opportunity to put him down. You'd think Jeremy impregnated their girlfriends by their hate for him :p

I notice this about the Rockets - I hardly ever see anyone of them beat the other team on ISO plays but I always see them getting beat by ISO plays.

On the other hand, their team defense is pretty solid and when they do rotations well, it shows. My guess is that McHale has been drilling them in team D and rotations, and other teams we have been playing are doing 'beat the man, win the shot' offense. That still doesn't justify their incredible shooting % though.

In the past 2 games, you have really good beat the man get the shot players like Kobe, Batum, etc. These guys walk all over the Rockets, who do not have experienced defensive matchups against them.

Also, Harden hasn't been playing D well. It is frustrating to watch. He is probably tired from creating the offense, but it still shouldn't be an excuse.

One important point is that young players often don't know good defense because they haven't encountered those kinds of plays/players before. They are learning how each person plays, what they like to do and are figuring out how to react to them during the game. If you've ever played pickup with random people that you have to guard, you know what I'm talking about - you pick up their tendencies to pump fake, go to their right, telegraph their shots, etc - but after you get owned by them the first couple of times. Against good players, one game isn't enough to get used to guarding them and you'll have a disadvantage in terms of reaction time. Scouting helps a little, but is not substitute for experience.

It's why Asik's spin move worked - cause... no one expected it haha.

Lin ranked 2nd in jersey sales last year. I'm sure some posters' boyfriends or wives sleep in them. Thus the hate.

How do we fix the defense? That's what the coaching staff is paid to do!

We have a team of young talented players. The coaching staff has to figure it out. Along with all other problems the team is having.

Rockets are a ****ing mess! Don't know why Les decided to just trade or let go of everyone in our team. This learning curve is too long to deal with! There are so many holes and weaknesses in this team!

The "poor defense" is from the lack of good offensive sets (the core problem being lack of screens being set), resulting in turnovers, poor shooting, and fast breaks in the other direction. Makes the defense seem worse than it actually is.

Even the lack of setting screens, the root of our entire problem, is Lin's fault.

My sugestions to improv the defense:

1 - Double guard when some player get hot (Aldridge, Batum, Lebron, Damian...etc)
2 - Need to deviate players from 3points line.
3 - Sometimes play Zone Defense.
4 - Better rotation with the bench=> because play a strong defense tires the player.

That is what a Vet team does! Rockets is a young team. It has a long way to go!

We have only one starter returning from last year so we need more time to gel. And as it has been stated earlier, Lin and Harden are poor perimeter defenders and we don't have defensive specialists off the bench to supplant them. Patterson needs to play like he did in the second half of his rookie season when he played with much more fire and energy.

This exactly. T jones is also so much more in offensive output that he needs to start over Patterson

JVG would be the worst choice as our team is so young. He hasn't demonstrated the patience or proclivity to develop young players, ie all of his Knicks players have since retired.
