Looks like Rockets has no intention to use Lin as a PG. Why no trade him to Lakers to get an all-star.

Hope Lin scored 20 pts amd 10 assis.

Go Lin! I am sick of stupid Rockets coaches.

Well, I do mind, and so should you. Last season, Lin was making 8.3 assists per 36 minutes, which was better than the first year average of 8.2 achieved by Jason Kidd. Now think about that for a moment.

Lin is potentially one of the greatest passers in the history of the NBA. So the Rockets tell him not to pass? It's like the New England Patriots tellling the young Tom Brady, "Sorry kid, we want you to boost your running, so you can't play quarterback this year". What a travesty and a waste, right? And not only that, it harms the young player and likely hurts the team too.

Preventing Lin from playing PG has few positives that I can see, and lots of negatives.

    whoa there, mother lover!
right now he is a well rounded pg. you name it .. steals, assists, rebounds, blocked shots at that position, double doubles for pgs...but one of the greatest passers in history is silly.

    love his court vision though.

    utterly BS thread.

ive been one of jeremy lin's biggest supporters but the only person that can free jeremy lin is jeremy lin.

what is happening now is Lin has lost all confidence in his ability to create and shoot the ball.

that is on lin. being a spot up shooter all of a sudden, that's on Lin.

HE CHOSE TO BECOME A SPOT UP SHOOTER.

Lin would bring up the ball and instead of calling for a pick or a play for himself he chooses to limply pass the ball and defer to everyone. Instead of taking the initiative on offense he hides in a corner.

Im a Lin fan but im calling BS when i see it. This is BS weak ***** im seeing from lin right now.

Reason Lin is here is because the kid has the potential to be a really good PG. Better than Dragic will ever be. I am not sure about Lowry, but you can't complain about him since he got us Harden.

except that he was getting torched on Defense.

Was it the right decision? That's certainly up for debate. Obviously it didn't work out.

Was there a logic to it? Yes.

    Was it racist?
Anyone who jumps to this conclusion right here - is beyond an clueless. They are an idiot.

Sigh he wasn't getting torched on defense at all. Lin is better than Douglas by every defensive metric so your statement makes no sense.

Did you watch the game? Or read any of the copious analysis of Lin's defense during the game?

He was not getting torched in any way whatsever. He was actually one of the Rockets' best defenders in the game. Second only to Asik, and the stats show that he has been that so far throughout this season.

I'm calling BS on your post. Lin is a team first player who doesn't go against what the coaches tell him to do.

Sampson admitted before the Portland game that they had not created any plays or PnRs for him. He has made numerous statements to the effect of how he wants Harden not Lin to be the main ball handler on the team. In previous game when Lin called Patterson for a screen, he was refused.

The idea that Lin wants to go hide in the corner and play as a spot up shooter is total weak BS and a complete denial of the reality of what has been going on with this team.

If his coaches DIDN'T want him to play as a spot-up shooter, they would've chewed him out and/or benched him for doing so.

It's not as if we forum schmoes are seeing anything that the coaches can't see. They know exactly what Lin is doing, and they want him to keep doing it for whatever reason that we can't figure out.

If you did watch the game in the 4th Q lillard was torching Lin and Douglas. They should have just kept lin in, but no one was stopping lillard at that point.

^^^ Dumbest thing I've heard in a year. Have you even played basketball at any organized level? Do you know anything about offensive schemes and systems? Seems to me that you believe every player just does what he wants out there.

This is what happened in the 4th quarter full video play by play.

Damian Lillard -[POR 103-105] Lillard 3pt Shot: Made (16 PTS)///Defended by TD who crashed into a screen

    Damian Lillard
[POR 109-108] Lillard Driving Layup Shot: Made (20 PTS)/// Tried to drive by Lin couldn't so they got the switch where Lin was now defending Batum & parsons was on Dame. Dame easily scored on Chandler

    Damian Lillard
[POR 111-108] Lillard Pullup Jump shot: Made (22 PTS)// This was the only time he got Lin but honestly Dame just made a REALLY tough shot Lin did the best he could defensively without drawing the foul.

So in conclusion Dame didn't really "torch" anybody. TD was incompetent on defense so Dame was able to get a bucket. Parson was to slow footed to defend against Dame's quickness. And Dame just made a tough hail mary shot despite Lin's impressive defense against him.

Sorry, Lillard was NOT torching Lin in the 4th quarter. Try going back and watching the 4th Quarter with a NOTEPAD. Your memory is incorrect.

Here is what happened in the 4th quarter...

4Q - Jeremy Lin starts, Lillard does NOT Start

7:03 - Damian Lillard enters the Game

4:05 - Marcus Morris FOULS Damian Lillard (2/2)

3:16 - Toney Douglas ENTERS, Jeremy Lin SITS

    3:02 - Damian Lillard makes 27 foot, 3 point shot (3 points)
2:25 - Damian Lillard MISSES 26 foot jumper

2:15 - Toney Douglas SITS, Jeremy Lin ENTERS

1:37 - James Harden TURNS OVER the BALL
1:37 - Jeremy Lin SCRAMBLES to get Harden's TURNOVER
1:37 - Lillard GETS the Ball, Jeremy Lin FOULS Lillard to stop Fast Break
    1:37 - Lillard shoots FT's (2/2)

0:40 - Damian Lillard makes Driving Layup past Chandler Parsons

0:17 - Damian Lillard makes contested, Fallaway Jumper over Jeremy Lin after being cut off while attempting to Drive.

0:10 - Jeremy Lin SITS, Toney Douglas ENTERS

So, Lillard scored 2 points against Lin's defense shooting a contested fadeaway jumper after Lin cut off his drive to the baseline, and 2 points because Jeremy Lin had to clean up Harden's dribble Turnover by Fouling Lillard.

This sort of stuff is why EXACTLY you can't trust your eyes or memory...

Great points, OP. I just want to add that Jordan's Bull was loosing bit time in his earlier year even through he himself could easily get those astonishing numbers, until Phil Jackson came in to each him how to get his teammates involved. If the organization wants to go the other direction, indeed it's a good idea to just trade Lin for someone else that fits the plan, rather than diminish his role and therefore his value in the market.

    I'm a Lin fan, too.

Kelvin Effing Sampson "I thought Jeremy Lin especially was tough on Defense tonight. Jeremy is tough; he doesn't get enough for that. He sticks his nose in there and gets on the floor after loose ball and is always in good position and he moves the ball, too."

    November 16, 2012

Kelvin Effing Sampson benched Lin for all of overtime, saying he went with the better defensive matchup.

    %#$&@?!
