I think calling it a personal grudge is a bit far, but Coach Sampson's words and actions don't speak to a Lin-Harden backcourt. It speaks to a Harden+"other" backcourt.
I try to give Jeremy Lin fans the benefit of the doubt, but check out this garbage. I don't think being desirous of injuries to other Rockets players so that Jeremy Lin has to shoulder all the ballhandling duties and somehow prove his value is all that amusing, no matter how many "grin" emoticons you follow it up with. You're garbage, dude.
Thanks for posting this. We should wait and see what develops thru the year and enjoy the ride along the way! People should relax and not be so quick to judge things so harshly.
I'm confused as to what the point of this thread is. Are you asking why the's team's focus is on harden and not lin? Harden's the better player, fans just need to face it. Again, it's not about one player.
Lin is fine. So is Rcokets as a team. Just because some fans are frustrated, it does not mean any fan can change whatever course coaches or FO intend to do in the future. Just enjoy what you have. Be cool. A west coast fan (No plan to be a permanent "true" Rocket fan as some vet intend to divide fans) enjoyed the entertainment and excitement. Lin played well last night.
I still think Houston is good for Lin's development. It'll take time and I'm fine with that. There will be growing pains and I'm fine with that too. From Lin's interviews and Q&A's, seems like he's fine with that too. What I'm not fine with is when some of the Houston "fans" bash Lin constantly and in derogatory terms (and I don't mean constructive criticism). The kid is working his @$$ off and sacrificing his stats to do what the team asks him to do when the team is trying out different things. He is helping his teammates get better. He doesn't complain. He takes ownership of his mistakes. He's his own worst critic. I hope Houston will one day embrace Lin and give him more love. "If you love me ~ let me know ~ if you don't ~ then let me go ~"
I would suggest patience. Its a young team, a new team, and it will take a while for everything to mesh. Lin is struggling with his shot, and the Rockets priorities right now look to be getting Harden comfortable with being the number 1 option, developing an offensive flow around that, stressing the transition game, and getting back to good defense. Keep in mind also that they see more of what these players are capable of than we do, and its still the middle of November.
I appreciate the thoughts. Yah I like watching Lin play too. Coach Sampson's use of "democratic ball" was fairly interesting. I think it's the first time I've heard it. Would he consider Michael Jordan/Scottie Pippen democratic ball or hero ball? Sampson says that he never really followed Linsanity in New York. I think that's unfortunate, because it's a great American story. Not only that, I think it speaks volumes when a coach says to his player he doesn't really have any interest in who he or what he's done previously.
who cares. really?? everyone knows why he came here. making more threads on the matter trying to depict the already evident is getting really old. asian fans, or Lin fans (don't have to necessarily be asian), WILL NOT make or break this team and it's fan base. I personally have been a fan since 2nd grade, when we won our first championship & shall continue to be until the day I die. fans will believe what they want to believe. big deal. if they don't get it, than tough on them.
I think a lot of people are trying to be patient. But there's also a lot of curious decisions being made, and a lot of people are starting to notice. A few games ago, I thought it was really telling that he would just outright praise TD's game, when TD himself is struggling. I wanted to give Coach Sampson a chance. It was his first post-game after all. The Lin benching, however, is just inexplicable. Lin is one of the team's best defenders. To me, the "TD is a better defender" is at best something debateable. Perhaps Lin fans should be happy that Sampson hasn't yet said that "TD is the better offensive player" with Douglas's 27% shooting.
Repped, because truer words were never spoken. Seeing Lin fans cross their fingers for a James Harden injury is where it starts to go from obsessive to disgusting. I am disgusted.
Asian fans got to see their own biases and stop blaming coaches, teammates, systems, knee issues, racism, etc for Lin. It just makes the fan base look bad when they make mountains out of molehills out of everything that has to do with him.
However, to generalize that all Lin fans wish injury on other players is false. Not all Lin fans are like that.
Those people aren't fans. They're morons. What do they think Lin would want? Considering his character and personality, he is the last guy to wish ill on anyone, much less a team mate. They do him a terrible disservice by this severely myopic attitude. You might be disgusted, but I'm ashamed. Because I'm a fan of Lin also, and I rage at being associated with this kind of attitude. But I would ask people not to generalise all fans this way. Look at all the psycho butthurt knicks fans that came here simply to **** on Lin. They aren't much better, sadly.
