I almost want to make a Twitter account just to ask him:

"You keep saying the Rockets have been inconsistent in their support. How? What is it exactly that you want that the Rockets aren't doing? If you're so convinced you're in the right and the Rockets are in the wrong, why not just put it out there? What EXACTLY are you asking for?"

But then I'd have to change "you" to "U" and "are" to "R" and stuff like that to fit in under the 140 character limit, and I just can't bring myself to do it.

He just keeps making these cryptic references to some unfulfilled promises or something, and I just don't buy it. For a guy who keeps talking about how he has been transparent and consistent and keeps using hashtags like #TRUTH, it sure is hard to figure out just what the hell it is he wants from the team.

I agree. It's come to that. He doesn't seem to be getting good guidance, nor adequate help from whatever doctor he's seeing, assuming he is. Not any effective guidance, but he clearly believes that he is. The Rockets, I would imagine, desperately want him to be evaluated by a top flight expert in the field, so they can see just what the mental state of Royce is, what he might not be getting in terms of treatment. They have a large financial investment in him, and it is in their interest to help White find an even keel, so he can use the obvious physical gifts he's been given as a, hopefully, big contributor for the Rockets on the court, which is why Morey took a big chance and drafted him. But Mr. White refuses to have pretty much anything to do with what the team wants him to do to both evaluate and help Royce, so he can have a successful NBA career, preferably with the Rocks. At least in my opinion.

As I've said elsewhere, at some point, the Rockets will be forced to let him go. This can't go on indefinitely. It's a huge distraction for the organization, the coaching staff, and the players. This is not why we drafted him. We have tried to accommodate him, and he refuses help, using the social media to "blame" whatever he thinks is going on between the Rockets and Mr. White with reasons he gives in the most nebulous terms. I think the window is closing. Royce needs to quit throwing out "blame" in the social media and get the help he obviously needs, and just as obviously, at least to me, isn't getting. He needs to give the Rockets a chance to help him. Best I can tell, he's not. Not yet. I hope he does. As you point out, his life, at least at some level, is at stake.

Maybe he thought he was as important as Lebron and we'd bend over backwards for him. I really know nothing about the guy, but maybe he has been sheltered for most of his life and had no idea what being a professional athlete would entail.

We don't know what the Rockets have done. But, if I were part of the orginaztion, I'd try something like this. Tell him he needs to come to all practices, team stuff, and home games. If flying is as crippling as he claims, tell him the only away games he needs to attend are ones in TX, NO, and OKC (within driving distance) for the first year. Starting year two, he needs to overcome his fear of flying and start making it to the away games. I think that's more than fair.

    Flying

To all those calling Royce various names. Unless you have experienced the debilitating fear that is the fear of flying, you might as well be talking out of your butt. When you are in the middle of this fear it is quite difficult to get over it. 1 in 3 Americans are afraid of flying and 1 in 6 refuse to fly. I was "grounded" for 20 years. I turned down jobs and vacations. Until I realized what Royce must realize. It is up to YOU to overcome this fear. Not your family and sure as he11 not your employer.

Royce, YOU have to get mad enough that you are losing your life to this fear and take action. At some point you are going to look back on your life and realize what could have been if it were not for a stupid and inaccurate fear. It is not up to the rockets.

I finally had enough. I took action. I read statistics. I learned about airplanes. I even flew airplanes by myself (solo) to overcome this fear. I am now 10 years recovered from this fear. I have over a million frequent flyer miles and have never looked back.

Grab your life and live it. Do not let a fear of flying rob you of that. Flying is statistically safer than taking a SHOWER.

How did fear of flying keep him from driving to the TC for practice and games?

I used to work as an on-site facilitator for a company called Sports Travel Plus. We handled the travel arrangements for about half of the NBA. My role, in brief, was to oversee the Hotel staff before the arrival of teams and ensure that everything was perfect for them.

One of the most important things I had to see to was that the players hotel rooms were exactly the same. For example, if one room had a vase with a flower in it, I had to make sure either ALL of the rooms had a vase with a flower in it or NONE of them did. The reason for this is because players were VERY sensitive about their teammates receiving preferential treatment and something as minor as that could cause drama.

As such, when I first read of the special allowances the Rockets were making for White concerning team travel, I was shocked. I can't really even imagine how the other Rockets players feel about it.

It absolutely blows my mind that White is claiming the Rockets aren't accommodating him. From my point of view, it seems like the Rockets are bending over backwards at the risk of offending his teammates.

I was really excited about Royce White's potential. Now I'm not sure he's worth the headache.

    Spot on!

I've been letting Royce know what's up on his Twitter page. The guy is CLEARLY trying to take the money and run! This guy pushed himself through college to get that NBA money so that he could pursue what he really wants to do. Music. He's already marketing his own Record company on Twitter, letting people know about it. He thinks he is going to be able to hide behind a disability to get out of his obligation to the Rockets while still getting paid. He is sadly mistaken! Rockets are going to fine him for every dime they can, AND THEY SHOULD! Scum like Royce White need to be called out for the trash that they are and I hope the Rockets take him to court and smoke his ass! They have PLENTY of firepower from his Twitter page alone! Anyone with severe anxiety like he claims to have would not be able to sit on Twitter 24/7 and have a batle royale with their boss and thousands of other people!! He is too dumb to realize that in court, he has already exposed himself as a fraud. Go read his tweets. They will make you livid!!!!

This is exactly what I feel.

My initial hunch (and it could obviously be wrong) is that he has someone manipulative talking in his ear. Someone is subverting the Rockets' efforts to make progress with him. Judging by how he has never been to one of their arranged specialist visits, I'm wondering about his "favorite" advisor he has kept around..

i wouldnt compare him to Eddie Griffin. EG was depressed, not passionate at all. Royce may not be passionate about the NBA, but he wants to be alive to do other things. IIRC, EG also had issues with alcohol and with his baby mama or gf.

That's interesting, since so many here think players hate Morey and Houston for treating them like assets.

People will take it he's ready now, but it obviously means he's open to it, nor or whenever, if necessary. He basically said that in his tweet. He's not planning on it, but if he has to, he will.

He just admitted on Twitter that this whole thing is not about flying. He says it is about protocol and educating. Protocol?? WTF is that even supposed to mean?? He is now just using words in a very vague way to say something that means nothing. Must have had a lawyer tell him what to post.

People, get a Twitter account and let this guy know what you think! It takes 1 minute tops!

To encourage people to hassle a guy with known mental issues, isn't a good idea, no?
