I didn't watch the second half, but act of desperation, probably. What other choices were there? Randolph is an incredible rebounder, so if Patterson didn't getting the job done, which big would have?
McHale tried to create a mismatch and force the Grizzlies to match up with him. It didn't work out - big deal. I'm not a big an of McHale, but very few teams can match up with the Grizzlies' bigs and this team shouldn't be beating the Grizzlies anyway.

I feel this game was easily ours. They didn't come to play and we put our mouses on there cats, like the previous games. T-jones showed me he was strong in e paint, block, and hustles. Dmo can score but he can get manhandled. I dont know if Greg smith has lateral quickness to guard a mobile pf. But one thing for sure, pat and Morris aint cutting it.

WHY not pick n roll closer to the basket instead of beyond the three point line??? That gives opposing teams way too much time to react. Both Lin & Harden are better mid-range shooters than three point shooters (obviosuly). It will open up better shot opportunites for the entire team (especially Asik as he'll be closer to the basket when rolling)......... Rediculous coaching

Dammit! We can't fire him after a personal tragedy, we'd look like dicks.

Mr. McHale has bought himself 2 months.

Not making fun of a family tragedy, but we are winning big. I know it is the Pistons, but coincidence? I think not  .

I would like D'Antoni as coach because he knows who his true star players are and how to use Jeremy. What I don't like are the posts in this thread. They are from J-fans who try to support Jeremy but are instead very shameful to see.

I hope it becomes a permanent absence.

Rockets management need to tell McHale to take as long as he needs. Seriously.

D'antoni is sadly picked up by the Lakers. The fast paced offense would probably have been great for this young team.

McHale got lucky and got shielded away from his personal absence. Or else many would still be calling for McHale's head. I still am, we need to fire the entire incompetent coaching staff and get some decent coaches in here. Even our assistant coaches are under qualified trash, get one of Popovich's old assistants over here.

This offensive scheme really blows. It's either contested shots or Harden driving around 3 guys in trying to score. Either way, these are low percentage shots. The Rox had the 3 ball going in the 2nd quarter, but then the Hornets made their defensive adjustments. The result is only scoring 21 and 15 in the 2nd half.

superstar ball is never pretty when your superstar is a perimeter scorer. Theres 3 in the key so you can watch your superstar big dominate the ball. Aint no 3 on the perimter so we're forced to watch harden hold it out there all the way until the clock runs down.

'Cept Harden doesn't resemble a superstar aside from his first 2 games where he was playing bad teams with bad defense and was out of his mind shooting. I thought Morey pulled off a great move, but Harden ain't no super star yet.

Did you see the stats of Points/rebounds/assists?

Did you see who was ahead of him?

Harden is playing great, it's just people have held him to the standard of those first two games for the entire season. They do not understand that those two games were beyond amazing (only Jordan and Wilt did better) and that he could not sustain that (or it was highly unlikely)

I don't know if he is a superstar...but at 23 you can make a strong case for him being the 3rd best SG in the NBA.

    News Flash,

McHale is still the coach and Sampson can't change the offense... He maybe able to make some changes in personnel but that's about it.

The Rockets have a long way to go and I don't really know if it's all on the coaches. When the guards penetrate and dish good things happen, but for some reason in the 4th they decide to rely on jump shots. The offense was the same that built a 20 point lead in this game and the one that built a lead in the heat game. The problem is with the guards not using the big men down low to make their lives easier.

I'm not saying it's the greatest offense in the world but the blame is not all on the coaches offense.

LOL Sampson had TD play(0-6 or something) in whole OT over Lin who almost had a triple double. Unbelievable, no matter if you're a LOH, or LOF or just a Rockets fan, this is something inexcusable. Coaching staff playing favorites now, and we all know that Sampson dislikes Lin.

BTW, fire McHale and Sampson will probably be removed as well. Coaches usually pick their assistant coaches, that's why when D'antoni got fired, 2-3 other assistant coaches moved along with him. Woodson was hired and he brought over his own guys as assistant coaches.

I'm not surprised. Sub par, inexperienced, under qualified coaches have Subpar, inexperienced, under qualified assistant coaches.
