No. He produced in Linsanity. Dragic and Lowry were already both near All-Stars and still had to enter their peaks. You'd at least expect production in the same vicinity.
During Linsanity, Lin was the focal point of a PNR heavy offense where he handled the ball on every possession. Here in Houston, he's being asked to give up the ball to Harden, camp out behind the 3 point line and be a spot up jump shooter with very little PNR opportunities. I think you may have to revise your expectations.
I think that is exactly what has upset and frustrated fans... Especially fans who were rooting for him during linsanity, hate the way the Knicks handled his FA, followed him to Houston, bought league pass, anticipating his returns this season, expecting even more production without having to deal with Melo and his selfish style of play. These same fans, including myself, were crazy excited about signing Harden because we thought he would be a great scorer who can complement Lin's game and take the pressure off him (seeing his rough preseason). But now, well... Now this. This just wasn't what we had expected at all. Right now we would be thrilled with just Lin's stats during the Woodson period (which are basically Felton's stats right now).
You are crazy. Even if we built the entire offense around Lin and he had the #1 usage rate in the league, he would never go back to producing the same numbers he did during the 8 games of linsanity.
I am a long time Knicks fan who followed him here also. For the record, Lin has shot the ball extremely poorly and has been less aggressive trying to get into the paint so his lack of performance cannot be blamed entirely on the role he is being asked to play but his role definitely does not cater to Lin's strengths. I have been very impressed with his defense though. He is a much better defender this year.
Here is hoping he changes it around tonite. Honestly, I don't care if he misses his shots. I wanna see some swag... No more worries about missing shots. He is playing with Buncha scrubs anyways -and none of them have the following that he does. So come out with eff u all attitude and freakish do your thing
Hard to have swag in your step when you just bricked a 3. Seriously though, I think Lin is still not confident in his knee. I don't see the same explosion in his first step or the way he is finishing at the rim. Until I see that explosion back, I'm reserving my expectations.
All this crapola about lin not being used right or the coaches suck is rubbish. Good players shine through and adapt. Jeremy lin is just not a good player, yet. Can he be a reliable pg who is a nonstat allstar battier in the pg version? Sure, but he will never be a star player in the nba and if he is even our third best player, we will not be title contenders
Thanks! I've been reading all the acronyms here and decided I wanted one to represent why I'm here.
And you base that opinion on what exactly? You eye test on his last few games with the rockets where he hasn't been allowed to play as a PG? Or on the opinion of people like SAS or those scouts that overlooked him his entire career? It sounds like you've already made up your mind about him, without giving him a chance, a lot like our venerable coaching staff.
1. You've got nothing to say he'd "never" reproduce Linsanity. That's a dumb thing to say. 2. I said in the "same vicinity" - as in I didn't expect Lin to be such an enormous downgrade from Dragic nor Lowry. I've heard this so many times. Where do you guys get this stuff that the coaches are asking him to do that?
It was very generous of you to give Lin 8 regular season games to adapt and become a good spot up 3 point shooter.
If you were McHale or Sampson, would you tolerate your 2nd (or 3rd) most expensive player on the team playing in the way that maximizes his current weaknesses and minimizes his strengths? Unless that was part of your plan.
