I agree, the best thing for him and the Rockets is for him to pull it together and go to the D-League to polish his craft.
Well, you think Morey did not see his potential, everyone in the league see his potential and what he did in the college was very special. However, he was a big risk the Rockets FO didnot want to take during the draft. I am with a coach to be involved in the draft process and help analyzing young prospect, but you should not affect the FO's work that much. You are no longer a GM, you are the head Coach. And if you see Mcfail's ability of running the offense you understand why Rockets fans hate him as a head coach for rockets. When Sampson takes over from Pistons' game, he motivated Ppat by bench him and he was not afraid of change the rotation. Those are the things I did not see from Mcfail. Bottom line, he is not a good coach for the team who jumps around the questions during the interview who has no clue regarding basketball.
Cutting him doesn't make any sense...Rockets already spent a draft pick and invested money in White. It's not like he's effecting the team..let him work out his issues in RVP...playing time might be good for him. If Royce White wants to quit..then that is his choice!..I just hope it can still be worked out..switching from college to the NBA is anxiety inducing for anybody! I sure it's 10X worse for White..I just hope he get's accustomed and comfortable with the NBA lifestyle and develops a routine so all this can blow over. Please White!!..don't give up at least try!!! I'm begging you...you can overcome this! The Rockets need you, please!
The hell with Royce White. GTFO, and don't let the door hit your pathetic, sorry ass on the way out. I can't stand people who have a ridiculously inflated sense of entitlement. I wish the Rockets didn't draft him. Look, many other sports athletes over the years have had a history of anxiety disorder and/or OCD, and most of them have handled it OK and were able to do their jobs and perform. I'm sure there have been others who have had a fear of flying, too. Hopefully White gets the help that he needs, but the Rockets' higher priority is to put a winning product on the court. Distractions and obstacles to that objective need to be dealt with swiftly and firmly, even if it means jettisoning the source of the issue from the franchise.
I didnt mean cut him today I was simply responding to the idea that there was "no downside to waiting", and meant to evoke the thought that there may come a time when waiting IS NO LONGER in our best interests. Sure, wait for now. I am onboard with that. But one only has to look at how quickly this developed to see that the landscape can change very quickly, for better or for worse. Some of these reasons in the future may not even be basketball ones. For instance he could continue his ongoing tweeter barrage aimed at the Rockets whereby the team is constantly linked to bad headlines, even when the team is doing everything possible. He could become a PR nightmare for the face of the franchise in making it seem we are a uncaring callas team. How long would we want to keep waiting on him in this scenario?
Where did it say in the body of that article that Royce said that he was ready to walk away? It looks like sensationalistic headline writing to me.
all he does is b**** and doesnt even go to the doctors the Rockets set up for him I could care less if he stayed or left but the more he b****es DEUCE !
This lost and confused young man has a kid of his own... probably the result of another dumb decision.
It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he quits. All the taletell signs were there. I can't remember there was a first round draft going into preseason so out of shape. EVER! Here's a guy who finally made it to the biggest stage of basketball. It's not like he didn't know how tough it would be for him. He knew. His Iowa coach told him that NBA is set up for players like him to fail. He received a fat first round guarantee contract, yet, he was totally out of shape?! Did he actually plan to 'play' himself into shape? WTF was he thinking? My conclusion from his piss poor work ethic? He had no desire to make it in NBA. His passion was never there!
The irony of it all is that Royce pretty much screwed up the draft stock of any future player with an anxiety disorder. Good job Royce.
Cya bye. Went to school with a guy who used to use a disability to manipulate things to his benefit. I'm sure he has issues but I've worked with people with anxiety issues in far less paying jobs than this idiot and they have done what they have to, to get on with their life and provide for their family, it might not have always been easy but life isn't... something Royce clearly doesn't understand. This guy is a self entitled wanker who couldn't handle not being the #1 guy. A lot more immaturity than anxiety.
Talk about a lot of speculation and a lot of hate for McHale. Just because McHale knew the coach and liked White doesn't mean he forced the FO to do something they didn't want to do. Bottomline, we had 3 1st round picks and a mediocre franchise; no need to go safe with all these picks. I was thrilled when we picked Royce for the reason that it was a high risk gamble.
the writing's on the wall that he will likely never play for the rockets. sick of hearing about this lunatic at this point. he is the reason that the randy moss's and warren sapps of the world plummet in drafts further than they should.
