I doubt it. Likely a typical PC apology:

    "i take responsiblity"

    "i'll keep working on it"

    "It's a long road"

"we're on the same page and moving forward"

I would be extremely surprised if he were apologetic after this tweeting binge over several days. The guy doesn't seem to have a good capability of self-reflection.

Likewise-- I expect him to paint himself in a sympathetic light, be vague, and make subtle jabs at the Rockets.

If he doesn't (and I hope he doesn't), I'll be impressed.

Royce has been making all the wrong moves. he should just stop playing this silly blaming game. Instead, he should first and foremost admit his own mistakes, explain his health problem and then appeal to the Rockets organization to help him. Acting like he is the only miserable victim and the whole world is at fault except himself is just not a smart move.

Eventually if you keep talking you just say too much and it's damn near impossible to repair bridges.

I know a lot of you will disagree, but I just don't want to care anymore... This guy Royce White is tiring me out. I sympathize for his condition, but professionally I do not sympathize with him at all.

When he signed his contract (REVISED FOR HIS SAKE) with Rockets, he needs to fulfill his duty. If he wants special attention/treatment, then every player who aren't starting should get the same privilege because they are "handicapped" with skills. If he thinks he cannot fulfill his duty, then he shouldn't have signed his contract. Rockets made the investment and are in no need to get out of their way to appease him. People who think that the Rockets should are out of their mind. It's a two way deal in the contract. Rockets will do everything they can in THEIR best interest for Royce, but Royce needs to fulfill his part of the contract. Giving him special attention isn't part of it.

Okay rant over, I'm not going to waste anymore energy reading about this guy.

This is my main criticism with White. Speaking as someone who's dealt with depression/anxiety (so it's not exactly like White's case but it's something along the same lines) I am perfectly understanding that he's having a breakdown on twitter and that it's more of a statement of his general current mental lack-of-health rather to any statement of White in a possibly productive and natural state.

HOWEVER, everything that's come out, and certain of White's statements, makes me think that he's not taking the steps, putting in the effort, to get himself healthy. Or at least not in the mental place even be ABLE to take the steps. Recognizing the patterns in his statements, I'm not even sure that he's in a mental place where he can recognize what's healthy and what's not. It takes *work*, mental and emotional work, to get oneself to a healthy place; it doesn't come with just a pill or just a doctor. And he's not putting in the work either on the basketball court or with himself personally.

He's going to need a lot of support from family, friends, and the organization to get through this, to even be in a place where he's productive; and frankly to even a mental place where he honestly wants to succeed. Right now his hunger to be not-anxious is stronger than his hunger to succeed imo, and I empathize with that having been there myself. I hope for him to be able to get through this, but I'm frustrated with his choices.

I've said this before and I'll say this again, Royce isn't representing the best face of anxiety sufferers, he's not showing what one can do when the disorder is managed. And it makes me facepalm to know that for some people it's setting back their perception of mental illness years if not decades.

Being that he's in a place where I don't think he can even recognize the major elements (let alone the more subtle elements) of where he's acting in an unhealthy and illogical manner, I honestly think that it'll take at LEAST half a year or longer of mental/emotional work to be in a stable place (based on personal experience).

Perhaps shorter if he goes to daily therapy sessions? Hard to say. Again, a lot of this has to do with how much effort he HIMSELF is willing to put in to get healthy; and I think he's muddled the idea of "Health" to himself so much that he'd have to get past his misconceptions of Health first, let alone all the rest of the issues that he and his therapist needs to get through even IF he's gung-ho about getting actually healthy.

There's nothing to even argue with there, RedEyeKirby. You're absolutely right.

This is unbelievable. After all this the dude might QUIT?

This dude tweets a hundred times a day about how he wants to change the world, and let people know that anxiety will not win the battle, and now he's gonna be known as a quitter. It's a shame what's happening, hopefully he mans up.

I'm not PLANNING on quitting, but its between my HEALTH and BASKETBALL, health takes precedence. You should never choose ANYTHING over it.

Ugh...so he basically is only THREATENING to quit if he doesn't get his way.

Of course he would not just give up on the money.

Doesn't want to work, but thinks he will still get paid. Unbelievable.

In other words, he's willing to quit. Like it was reported. Doesn't change anything.
