Started playing Co-op with my wife last night. I don't know what it is, but something just feels off. Not as easy for me scoped in as the other Halos were. Could just be the lack of playing Halo for an extended period and my wife sucking balls at Halo.
I played through legendary (the first chapter) with my fiancee. She isn't very good (getting better though!) and we made it through okay. Died a few times, but that's to be expected. Doesn't seem any harder / different than the previous games to me. Same for multiplayer.
A nitpick, but man I'm still waiting in vane for them to finally do the warthog right. I'm liking it so far, but I'm not sure at this point if it'll be among the best for me. Visually it's incredible. But through the first two missions I do get a deja vu feeling that these missions are too similar to past Halos. Hopefully that changes.
I gotta say....after a few days of playing, there is one HUGE annoyance with the game for me. In multiplayer, if you want to play 4 v. 4 type games....you are limited to only 4 levels! You will ALWAYS play Solace, Haven, Abandon, and Adrift, and while none of them are bad levels by any means, when you play the same....level...over...and...over again, it really just gets old fast. I'm amazed the map choices are so slim in terms of each game type. It's the same case with other maps. You are 100% guaranteed on Big Team modes to play either Longbow, Exile, Vortex, or Meltdown (and I haven't even played Meltdown yet. I just know it's an option, but people always vote Longbow or Exile). And once again, these are all nice maps, but MAN! I want some variation! The map packs need to come FAST. The horrible variance of maps is just really annoying and frankly not fun.
We are playing Heroic. I don't really have a problem with the difficulty (wife doesn't like Legendary), just having a hard time getting a feel for the weapons, even the BR/pistol. I don't feel like I'm seeing as well when zoomed in as I was in previous Halos. Hopefully just an adjustment period.
Seems okay to me. Legendary solo is extremely difficult. They really made the promethians fun and interesting to fight.
I keep thinking there must be a secret to killing them. By far the toughest opponent Halo has ever had.
I've done five missions solo on legendary and I've got three missions left and the Promethean Knights are always the hardest enemies for me to kill. One thing I've found is that the Scattershot is extremely good at killing Knights, especially when no other power weapons are available. It can one-shot or two-shot a Knight at close range. Just clear out the other enemies first. I usually try to carry a DMR/BR/Carbine/Light Rifle as one of my weapons since you can take out Watchers/Crawlers pretty easily with those.
Started a run on Heroic (not really good at shooters, might try Legendary later), but haven't really gotten too far in since I'm trying to finish AC3 rather than add it to the backlog of "close to finishing, but not quite there" games I own. Graphics are amazing, and the sounds quality is great as well. Weapons are about what I remember, except for the Battle Rifle. That thing's no joke. They've turned it in to a mini-sniper rifle, except you can use it unscoped as well.. Going to be walking around with that as much as possible. I should be throwing myself in to it in a couple of days.
incineration cannon is overpowered! i dont know how yall are playing the campaign on legendary. i wouldnt be able to have fun when every shot the enemies shoot is pinpoint accurate.
A) I want the best ending B) I've played a lot of Halo against a lot of very good players. If you're used to being headshotted every time it isn't as big of a deal. It helps if dying just makes you more determined to advance. The first engagements I had with the promethians was a lot of respawning on my part.
From what I understand the only difference between Heroic and Legendary is one thing... you get to see part of Master Chief's face. I kinda feel that every Halo game has been a little bit better than the last, and I think this follows suit. It's probably the most epic of them all and I definitely like the darker tones. I liked being able to fly again and loved the Promethean weapons. And the Prometheans themselves were an absolute relentless enemy. Frustrated me at times, and in a much more satisfying way than the Flood. Loved the story; the terminals are a must to fill in the gaps. And Cortana...always been my favorite character I think. Will be interesting to see where they go from here...I kinda hope the ending isn't as definitive as it seems. My only gripes... After all these years they still haven't really improved the warthog all that much..it's still floaty. And would it kill them to add vibration when driving it and the scorpion?! For as much effort they put into you hating Del Rio, there is little to no payoff with that sub-plot. Disappointing. Laskey looks nothing like the live-action version from Forward Unto Dawn. Why does he have a full head of hair?! First two missions are way too similar to Halo 1; almost a little boring. The score is excellent, but you don't have those memorable themes from the first trilogy. It's definitely relegated to the background this time.
The ending sucked balls. The graphics and cut scenes were amazing though it was hard to tell they weren't real.
