Ricksmith, did it sound like they were even talking to anyone besides DirecTV and Suddenlink? I have U-Verse and I'm scared that they're not even talking till all the other ones fall.
He didn't mention U-Verse or Dish Network at all. On the bright side, he does believe that it only takes one major provider (DirecTV) to join, and the others usually follow. My personal opinion is that his theory is true. If a major provider joins and starts broadcasting games, those who still can't see them will say, "Well so and so came to an agreement, why can't y'all?" which hurts the company. I genuinely believe that we just need 1 to come to terms with Comcast and the others will follow, instead of alienating their customers.
Thanks RickSmith, at least there is a connection to reality of some kind. I still can't believe that the Rocket's brass was so stupid to hitch their wagon to such a tiny star. The consequences were pretty obvious. This has the potential of costing them a good portion of their fan base.
I take that back, he did mention U-Verse once. When taking questions, I think someone said they had U-Verse and they hated Comcast and didn't want to switch back. I'm paraphrasing here, but Tad said something along the lines of, "I haven't had any experience with U-Verse (He has DirecTV), but I know people that swear by their service and love having U-Verse. We're working with all of the major carriers and we will get deals done for everyone around Houston."
Great info RickSmith. I appreciate that. I would rep but have to spread some around before giving it to you again. I have DirecTV so I was very pleased reading this. I hope they can get something done a.s.a.p.
I thought there'd be a deal between DirecTv and the Lakers soon, they updated their little message about the situation on their website yesterday. The message about CSN Houston is very different though, doesn't sound like it'll get done in the near future. "We continue to work with both the Rockets and Astros who own CSN Houston to make it available to our customers for the 2012-13 NBA and upcoming 2013 MLB season next spring. DIRECTV strives to provide all of our customers an unparalleled TV experience at the most reasonable value, and while the costs of sports networks like this one continue to rise, we remain committed to servicing fans and non-fans alike."
It's still the Owners/Negotiators fault for not having the foresight that this situation could occur. Because of their lack of planning and foresight the fans have to suffer. Bad management all the way around.
I don't think Time Warner still exists in Houston itself, but it's the biggest provider in Beaumont and a few other secondary Texas markets that typically offer Rockets games. Makes sense that they're working on them, too.
No extras, it's a regualr channel. But you'll love it! The anchors are hot, the CSN product is good and cover ALL Houston sports. The graphics and studios are top notch, you feel like a real city and not a small town that has Fox Sports SW.
Stop crying and being cheap about $3.95 What's the big deal? I have Comcast b/c I've had Dish, DirectTV, U-Verse and some bootleg one called Charter cable ...anyway Comcast IS BY FAR THE BEST. Satellite goes out in bad weather and U-verse internet is SLOW as hell compared to cable (didn't know how slow until I switched). Comcast offers excellent customer service and I've never had issues nor my family members. One thing ya'll have to remember that it's NOT COMCAST'S FAULT!! Please get informed/ educated. NBC is the one behind this, yes Comcast owns them, but the cable is called Xfinity...get educated and quit blaming the cable provider. They (cable provider) stepped up on the initial bid to be the home of the Astros and Rockets and while the other providers didn't! Anyone of us would do the same if we had the chance to own something no one else had. Some of you guys are just a bunch of haters wanting to take the easy, CHEAP route. You have to compromise, and be patient.
