Is everyone in Russia completely hammered at all times? That looks like fun.

Driving in Russia is like living the Final Destination movies.

I'm sure it does happen often enough. But I'd think not at THIS kinda requency and general sense of lack of control.

I just looked up a link, 10 Most Dangerous Countries For Drivers from 2009
    http://www.forbes.com/2009/05/19/da...lifestyle-travel-dangerous-roads_slide_2.html

Russia is #1, by a WIDE margin. Europe dominates the list.

Some select countries, lowest to worst:

    8. United States
136 annual fatalities per million inhabitants
163 annual fatalities per million vehicles

    6. Korea
127 annual fatalities per million inhabitants
317 annual fatalities per million vehicles

    2. Slovakia
122 annual fatalities per million inhabitants
426 annual fatalities per million vehicles

    1. Russia
235 annual fatalities per million inhabitants
939 annual fatalities per million vehicles

Russia has more than TWICE the road deaths as 2nd place. 6 times the number of road deaths as the USA. And who knows how many more accidents. (Korea the only "Asian" country on there.)

Yeah I think the videos can help confirm that ranking lol

I almost T-Boned this moronic soccer mom in a minivan who was on her cell phone yesterday night. She pulled over like she was parking on the side of the road, but in reality she was taking a wide U-Turn, WITHOUT SIGNALING. So as I was going to pass her up, she pulls out right in front of me, completely oblivious to the fact that she was about to get jacked. I honked, she looked at me like I was the jerk, then finished her U-turn, WHILE STILL ON HER PHONE, and went on her way.

That video was awesome though. People have absolutely no value for their cars, or anyone else's over there.

I lived there and in Ukraine for a period of time. Yes it is that bad and yes they are mostly drunk. I was friends with a guy in Russia who worked as an EMS on an ambulance. He later quit the job because he told me that he couldn't drink that much anymore. The ambulance drivers and workers would start drinking vodka first thing every morning and would drink all day long. In Russia if you turn down alcohol from your friends/family/coworkers etc it's a huge insult to them and you just don't do it. So yes, the ambulance drivers and EMS workers are blitzed every day. They believe that the vodka keeps them warm and it's just a huge part of life there.

I got hit by a car in Ukraine. I was standing on the street corner waiting to cross and a car slid and lost control and hit all of us who were standing there. Luckily I jumped at the right time and just sorta slid off the back of the car and caught myself. One girl got her knee twisted pretty bad. Everyone else just got off the ground and started laughing and clapping.

Girls there wear high heels even in the -30 degree weather with ice everywhere. People walking around the towns are always falling down, slipping and when someone hits the deck everyone around starts laughing and clapping like it's a big comedy show. It's really unbelievable. I have some video I may post later.

A lot of them probably hate their lives after having to wait in long lines for stuff like toilet paper and bread. Do they still do that over there? lol

I see a bunch of drivers that just don't give a crap about what's going on. It's like "get the hell out of my way or I'm going to hit you" mentality.

    was that a moose?

got to think most high-speed Lada accidents are not survivable.

I didn't click on the link, but the obvious questions is where the numbers come from. With so many people in Asia, which had historically been a less developed country, one can imagine there is a lot more unreported driving accidents/deaths in China, for example, than in the US or Russia.

    Just a thought.

Showed this to my Russian coworker. He was thoroughly entertained by the video, and said that driving in Russia is definitely more dangerous than driving here in the US. But he said that this video is not indicative of how it actually is to drive there.

Insurance reasons. Mainly because of fraud.
