When are you going to stop relying on numbers and data. Look, your fuzzy math means nothing because I watch Hannity and have personally seen poor black people smoke crack. This is the type of situation where you follow your gut, and my gut says poor people are parasites that buy drugs and new cars with my tax money.

Sometimes I don't know how good I have it.

I'm a tall white man with blue eyes, so when I get pulled over, 90% of the time they let me go with a warning. (So far, in my life, I swear, I've been pulled over about 10 times. Speeding, expired tags. ONCE I got a ticket.)

I have a college degree. I have been lucky jobwise these past six/seven years. To get unemployment I would have to give, what?, 2 or 3 job contacts a week. But no drug test.

If I were poor and needed food stamps or welfare, that number of job contacts jumps to, what?, 10 or 20 a week? Plus here in Texas they'd want a bottle of my piss to go with the work search?

"Yeah, here's my work search sheet.....aaaaaaaaaand here's my piss. Yeah, it's got leaves and stems floating in it" (joke borrowed from David Sedaris, God love him, "I smoked a fattie last night."

David, while I would never vote for it, I actually do not really have a problem with "herb" being legalized. I don't use it. I couldn't if I wanted to based on my companies drug testing policy. I do however have a problem with someone who receives money from the state buying "herb". If "herb" were ever legalized it should not be subsidized with welfare.

So . . .the money would not really be saved as much as moved to another state expense.

Good not that the financial portion of the argument is moot
Let's call this a humanitarian effort.

That said. . .would you be open to funneling the money into drug rehabs, jobs training and education too?

Honestly . . . the herb users at least ones to worry about
though with ,. . . I wonder will herb be like Alcohol or like Tobacco
[i.e. you can Smoke and drive but not drink and drive]

My biggest issue with this whole thing is that it is moving the pepperoni around the pizza
the same money just moving it from one side to the other
with zero affect on society at best
at worse. . . makes things worse

I would be open to limited drug rehab. Limited in that you get one chance. I see no need to pay for rehab over and over for someone who keeps falling off of the wagon. Education?? you know my son just started college and I have found getting student loans is fairly easy. So I support loaning money for education and training. Welfare should be a hand up not a hand out.

I'd bet money that classic is on the money, and that this will cost much more money than it saves... not to mention the innocent victims of such a policy.

odd "justifications" for this in the article...

that just sounds like someone embellishing, no matter how you slice it... combined with a hearty "Look all the cool kids are doin' it"

    then this...

What does this have to do with enforcing such a policy on one demographic? Did he run a business that only hired people on welfare?

I would guess the motivations here are not what they seem.

This is fine as long as they extend this to everyone who receives some sort of government assistance, such as bailouts or tax breaks. If you want to take advantage of any tax write-offs when filing your taxes, piss in a cup. If a company receives billions of federal bailout money or huge tax breaks to move to your city/state, every single employee, from the CEO on down, piss in a cup.

This is just bull**** hate-mongering by the right. The poor are an easy target.

    I agree with RM95.

I am in favor of this as long as everyone who receives tax money for any reason at all must also piss in a cup.
