Many of you will get this disorder, your parents will get it, your friends, or you co-workers. It's almost inevitable. 1 in 5. You will know someone. Or it will be you. And then the shoe will be on the other foot at that point. And you'll understand then what it will do to you and how debilitating it can be. 18% of all Americans. And only then will you realize he's pathing a pathway for those with the disorder, inspite of those who think this is on him, and think he is incapable of receving treatment, getting better, and contributing. They said the same thing about drug addiction in 80's. By the 90's, the stigma of drug addiction passed, it was recognized as disease by teams, players get treatment, return, recover, and nobody thinks anything about it anymore even though the disease is lifelong and chronic. They said the same thing about HIV. Year later Magic pathed the way for the infected. So White is pathing a road for 1 in 5 americans. He's not making it harder at all. He's making it possible. This is no different that Yao breaking all the stigmas applied to Chinese basketball. He's a beacon. And the Rockets should be committed to him for the long term.

His condition doesn't allow him to publicly berate his employer. There is no excuse for that.

It is completely unacceptable for this guy to go after the Rockets so publicly. I get he has this disorder, but when he signed the contract he knew what he was getting into and that the team had the right to do this. He is acting like a victim and that his Dr. not being allowed to treat him is the issue. He was working with the Rockets Dr. this summer when he decided not to show for camp. He needs to shut his mouth, get some serious help and do his job.

Ok? The problem with it is how he's doing it, and the fact that he's acting very entitled throughout this entire process. Nobody has a problem accepting his condition and realizing it has to be worked on.

They showed their commitment the day they signed him to a contract. He needs to show some commitment to himself and the organization by taking better mental care of himself.

I just lost braincells reading this. Sorry son, but you don't get to dictate to your employer how you want things done because you have an illness. They have to accomadate you, wait no scratch that, the Rockets could have just kicked his ass to the curb, but they set up means for him to get help. GTFO with that he's a beacon of hope crap, he's an insufferable child who is throwing a fit and will be dealt with accordingly. You want to fight for mental health rights? Tell Roy to stop throwing tacks on the road he could have been pathing.

So he's admitting he just wants attention? Why not get attention by playing well instead by being a b****?

Look at what Matt Bullard Retweeted. lol

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>When we’re all worried about the ‘me’ we never find success as a ‘we’</p>&mdash; NCAA Recruit Tips (@1001RecruitTips) <a href="https://twitter.com/1001RecruitTips/status/268897370983501824" data-datetime="2012-11-15T02:05:03+00:00">November 15, 2012</a></blockquote>

What Matt Bullard doesn't realize is that there was no "we". Royce White was alone until he spoke up. It was business as usual until he asked for assistance. And there's still more informing to do. So I think Bullard should consider that when your one of one, informing and understanding sometimes has to be about "me" at first. Sometimes the "me's" have to fight a war to become the "We's." The good news is that eventually, when someone speakes up, it happens. It's inevitable. I think the Rockets are a goo organization, now realizing the importance of mental health parity for all.

My obviously-not-professional opinion? White let success and media frenzy of his disorder got into his head. He took what were simply human interest stories and thought that actually made him important as a basketball player.

So in a way, I hope this teaches him a lesson to be humble. To realize that from an NBA standpoint, he's not special. That every player who enters the NBA has a kick-ass college resume. That every player not picked in the top 3ish gets no entitlement because they haven't proven to be worth it.

If White at least learns to humble himself, work to prove his worth, he'll get all the entitlement he wants. Morey should point to how the Rockets bow down to basically every T-Mac demands back when he was still T-Mac. If you want to be treated like a star, play like one first.

This post is almost as stupid as Royce's tweets. FYI it's paving not pathed, and no he is not paving anything only cementing his legacy as a mentally challenged idiot. What exactly is he making possible? Holding your employer hostage for your inability to take responsibility and not meeting to your personal wants. Comparing race and and an actual disease to an exaggerated narcissistic baby only shows you think on his level. I'd be committed to suing him for everything he has for a breach of contract. #Tranparent idiot, #Honestly stupid

He was never alone. The Rockets have done all they can to show their commitment to accommodating him. The problem is that Royce White has NO interest in playing his part. He is ONLY interested in using his status as a Rockets player to get attention, and not at all in contributing to the Rockets team. It was never "business as usual".

Please, kindly explain to me, how Royce White is entitled to playing time and minutes when he, by his own choice, missed a good chunk of training camp, is skipping practices and refusing to attend games? In what world is "I have a mental illness, so give me NBA minutes without practice" a reasonable request for support?

Also, please explain to me: why did he sign a contract that *requires* him to see a team-appointed doctor for his illness if he had no intention to, and then start crying to the public about the consequences? Did his mental illness prevent him from understanding what he was signing up for? If so, then for his sake and the sake of everyone else, he needs to quit.

All this soapbox crying is not helping him, not helping the team, and certainly not helping other sufferers of anxiety have a voice -- on the other hand, he's actually making it worse for them. It may make him feel better that he has his personal soapbox, and it may even make his supporters and other sufferers who identify with him feel better, but in reality he's burning bridges where he could be building them for others like himself.

the last two months alone trumps 10 years worth of Steve Francis and T-Mac problems combined...
