I remember growing up in Texas, and I wondered as a kid: why am I taking Texas History for like the sixth year out of 12 years in public school, with only like one year of American History? Is that really a good idea?

I had to really learn about Eisenhower and LBJ largely on my own, in college and via reading history. In these you learn how un-radical Obama is, and how, if people want to secdee (hahahaha) now, they really should have had their parents or grandparents secdee in the mid 20th century, when things were much more progressive.

As someone who still considers himself a Texas living outside of Texas I wish this thing would end. I can't recall a time I've heard so many jokes and more negativity about our state.

We have a handful of people, in relation to the whole population of Texas, making us look like a bunch of bitter sore losers.

 

First of all: that video is three years old, from the last time the rednecks in this state started talking about the idiotic idea of secdeeding.

Secondly: I agree, Olbermann can be an incredible douche.

Third: despite his ass-hattery, did he say anything that wasn't true? The fools who sign this petition have NO CLUE about the economic and cultural distasters that await them if Tejas were somehow able to actually secdee. It's like they think life will magically continue as normal, just minus the "black fella in Warshington". Get a brain, morans!

 

Please... correct him on any point he made.... Ill be waiting.

 

Secession is a ridiculous underdeveloped platform of people trying to show solidarity against perceived fedgubmint overstepping and mismanagment, but that whole Olbermann thing was just a little too smarmy.

Since when are "asshat" and "wtf?" appropriate newstalk? a little refreshing on a blog or youtube commentary, a little out of line for unbiased (yeah, msnbc, I know) 'news?'

Those numbers are skewed because of military spending, if you have a ****load of military bases (the south) or are home to a good chunk of the the nations nuclear arsenal (Montana, ND, and Wyoming) then you "get" more than other states that don't have these things. Take military spending out of that equation and you will start to see the true story.
