Ok sure but lets look at the evidence. Tony Douglas has seen a downward trend in his 3 point shooting over his career. So what is more wise betting that he will bounce back to career numbers or accepting that maybe his shooting has significantly regressed. Lin's 3 point shooting for the most part has seen somewhat of an incline since his rookie season. Also, does anybody have Lin's synergy defensive stats compared to Tony's cause I doubt Tony's will be better than Lins. Finally, Tony douglas isn't a playmaker so starting him will only make it easier for the defense to focus on the one playmaker on the team Harden. At least the threat of Lin attacking the basket keeps the defense honest.
Lin's defensive stats is way better than Douglas this season and last season according to synergy sports.
Toney Douglas has literally been one of the worst players in the league this season... http://www.basketball-reference.com...o01&y1=2013&p2=linje01&y2=2013#advanced::none regardless of your opinion of Lin's play...one thing is for certain: Douglas is not the answer
We have four options here for current Lin issue or the team; One: let Lin play PG as playmaker and Harden plays SG to get scores. Two: let Lin lead 2nd unit as playmaker and Harden as PG +SG as starter Three: trade Lin to the other team who use him as PG Four: let Lin stand at a corner as a snot-up shooter, and ignore his high IQ skill that hurt the team and himself.
Seriously, this is getting out of hand. Sure, Lin has been struggling as a spot up shooter, but he is no where near as bad as Toney Douglas. Toney has been terrible at running the offense. There are so many possession that he would bring the ball up, dribble the ball around looking lost until the shot clock reaches single digits, and force a bad shot or throw it away. He can be a decent defender, but he is not capable of running an NBA offense. He is a SG playing the PG position. Add in the fact that Toney Douglas has a slow reaction time so he would pass the ball to his teammates too late or he would give it to the wrong guy. There are so many things I can get into with Toney but I'm sure most people here on Clutchfans that actually knows basketball and are not totally ignorant about it, understands me. Again, Clutch has went over about members being smart about creating new threads. All these new knee jerk threads are getting out of hand, and more members will continue to create more new threads about small silly knee jerk reactions they have.
BTW, Lin is shooting 31% from the 3 point line which isn't that great but much better than Toney Douglas's 10% which is worse than John Wall. Overall, Jeremy Lin shoots around 37% FG while Toney's 22%. Toney Douglas is just terrible right now. He is not capable of running any NBA offense as well as putting the ball through the basket. He is just someone that the Rockets put in so Lin can catch his breath.
James Harden is a SG, not a PG. He is a secondary ball handler to Lin. Lin is the main guy that runs this team's offense and Harden is this team's scorer. If you make James run the offense too much, it will wore him down. If you start the game with James and Douglas as the starting back court, the opposing backcourt would just swarm Harden and leaving Douglas alone. They would have 2 players following Harden all over the court while Douglas just stands there because they know that Douglas cannot beat them even if he's wide open. Anyone that shoots 10% from the 3 pt line and 22% overall is not a threat to them but a benefit to them because they can just swarm James Harden.
At this point it wouldnt be bad having TD play most minutes with Harden on the court whether hes starting or not. Having Lin spot up at the 3 line is a ****ing waste of money on his contract for a player like Lin. I'd rather have Lin play with bench players with his style and go back to hero ball with Harden and TD. With the knicks bench players Lin really made every player's value increase since he wasnt afraid to dish. In close game situations like miami, they could play both Lin and Harden but strictly run specific sets the final 3 or 4 minutes or mix and match plays. Because subbing in Lin to give it up to harden at the half court line every other play is rediculous for the entire game. Lin showed from last year that he can be clutch but he had a lot of confidence and was really getting into it all game. Here him just sitting there missing threes is just killing your PG's confidence.
lol @ everyone thinking that this thread was an idiotic thread but now those same people are slowing coming around.
Nope not me. TD was hot from 3 tonight but he still hurt the team with his defense. Aside from his man to man D he was lacking in every other area of defensive awareness. Also he still can't run an offense to save his life.
I tried to post before the hornets game about why this is so terrible idea, but my phone failed. thank god i don't have to eat crow now. all that kidding aside, TD was great last night. he made like 5 3's? if he can keep it up (i am not sure he can), this is might not that bad idea after all. for team lives and dies by 3, he could be a nice surprise.
