Jeff Loria is an Art dealer and and he sold one hell of an overrated piece of **** to the City of Miami.

    More Buster...

Both teams combined won 142 games.... There's no blockbuster here.

Jose Reyes, Josh Johnson, and Mark Buehrle for a combination of the best Jays prospects and you say it's not a blockbuster...what will it take for you to call a trade a blockbuster then ? Just because teams don't combine to win a lot of games doesn't mean that they don't have quality players.

Yeah, you're right. I think what I should of put is more along the lines of how I feel about anything the Marlins do from trades to their scoreboard design. They're a complete joke and anything they do makes me SMH.

The City of Miami and voters should sue this team out of existence. They were duped into voting for the stadium thinking that they'd get a team that will be relevant long term. Instead, they got a pile of s*** team in a horribly ugly stadium. They didn't even get a World Series title out of this salary dump.

I'd say I feel bad for the fans of the Marlins...but there aren't any.

Let's not forget that Miami was 69-93 and last in their division this past season. The team as constituted was terrible and nowhere close to winning a World Series. I give them full credit for dumping a bunch of crappy contracts and getting prospects out of it. The question is what will they replace them with - if they spend that money on better players over the next year or two, they'll be in far better shape.

Holding on to players on a bad team for PR purposes is a terrible way of building a team - the Astros showed the world exactly where that leads. The Marlins are doing what the Astros should have done a few years ago.

Josh Johnson is a legit ace type pitcher. You don't trade away guys like that.

I agree with you in theory, and he's be the one to keep if there was one. But as far as we know, he *was* an ace pitcher. He's suffered multiple significant injuries, and this year was 8-14 with a 3.81 ERA. He might get his form back, but it's not a sure thing at all.

And, he only has 1 year left on his contract - so if the Marlins don't feel like they are going to be competitive this year, no point keeping him. They can always sign him as a free agent next year if they want.

    Astros situation was different.

The Marlins problem is that they traded everyone within one season of signing them. They've traded 3 all-stars in their primes, because they made a bunch of money, even though they just paid them. I don't blame them for trading Ramirez/Bell/Buerhle/Buck, because there were attitude/age concerns. Trading Reyes/Johnson together and not getting a world class package is baffling to me.

I'd have waited until the deadline to make a deal involving Johnson.

How is Jeffrey Loria still allowed to own a team again?

David Lennon (@DPLennon): #Marlins owner Loria not in chatty mood here "Not today boys. If you guys haven't figured it out yet I'm not going to figure it out for you"

Never should have been allowed to buy the Marlins. He already ran the Expos into the ground.

The problem here is that they are the exact opposite of idiots. They are shrewd, cunning, unethical scumbags who don't have an ounce of scruples, but a boatload of cash because of their previous pilfering job (also under Selig's watch). Comparing these guys to the mafia is incredibly apt.

But the haul of prospects wasn't enough to mollify many Marlins fans. Radio talk show host Jeff DeForrest fielded calls from irate listeners shortly after news of the trade broke Tuesday.

"The next move obviously is to have Fidel Castro throw out the first pitch next year," DeForrest said. "That's the only way they could alienate the fans more than they have."

No, somehow Loria would top it. He would trade Stanton to the Yankees for Alex Rodriguez and let the grounds crew play the other 8 positions. Take a piss on the American Flag during pre-game ceremonies, then tell people how Jesus Christ was a liar and deserved to be stoned and crucified.

Any chance this franchise will relocate to San Antonio?
