    <strike><span style="text-decoration: line-through;">
    Days after trading Ervin Santana to the Royals, the Angels & Cubs may be on the verge of a Dan Haren/Carlos Marmol swap.</span></strike>

    Angels do not extend qualifying offer to Hunter. Ditto for Mike Napoli and the Rangers. The Rangers, however, did extend one to Josh Hamilton.

    Red Sox & David Ortiz reportedly close on a 2 year, 26 million dollar deal.

    angels/cubs deal looks to be off the table

    @Ken_Rosenthal
    Source: Marmol would have OK'ed trade to #Angels, but #Cubs pulled deal off table and trade is not happening. Angels talking to other clubs.

    Napoli & Haren are definitely the guys I'd have the most interest in. Angels & Rangers decided they weren't worth around $13M.

    Padres C Yasmani Grandal suspended 50 games.

    Mark McGwire left the Cardinals to become the Dodgers hitting coach.

    Mets have bought out Jason Bay.

    I'll be surprised if another free agent ever signs with the Marlins again.

    It baffles me how they expect to maintain a fan base when they have fire sales time and time again.

    But, hey, they got their new stadium, right?

    :rolleyes:

    Total embarrassment. Baseball should contract the Marlins and use what should have been there share of revenue sharing to pay back Miami for that stadium.

    Marlins get a publicity nightmare in the short term, but depending on the quality of the prospects, this CAN be a huge win for them. Jose Reyes is way overpaid, and Josh Johnson is a constant injury risk. If they get 3 A-level prospects and then re-spend all that money on better players, they end up that much better.

    Seeing these facts ...I have to wonder if the Marlins clearing room for an AROD deal?

    That the only way this makes sense.

    Also - I think this deal could effectively give Houston Super Bowl LI. Dolphins Stadium needs a renovation to host another Super Bowl ...think City of Miami will be down to publicly fund another stadium project after this Marlins fiasco?!?
