Akim now look at James Hardens USG rate. Before this game his USG was the highest amongst NBA SG's playing 30 + minutes. Higher than Kobe. That is insane. I said this so many times he is not being used enough nor is he being used properly.
He still is the highest among SGs at 27.7 after this game. His ast ratio is second las(14.2)t and his TO(14.2) is third highest among SGs who played more than 35mins a game.
I just figured that 9 out 10 threads would ended up discussion about Lin...Some don't even start with him... Isn't Harden the superstar of the team? Why not talk more about him and leave Lin alone since many of you don't value him that much? Show some respect to your franchise player !! How about creating more threads about Harden and not being obsessed with Jeremy Lin that much!! I have a feeling once you don't pay much attention to Lin, he will perform a lot better!
Yikes. They are killing James too. It is no surprise that our backcourt is struggling at the same time. James is doing way to much & Lin is doing way to little. In the first two games Lin's USG was 24% & 27% respectively. In those two games James was 36% & 38% respectively. James should definitely have the higher USG but Lin's really shouldn't be that low.
And those were the only 2 games the back court looked legit. Harden def tried to do too much and lin has been passive, by design or not. Rockets need to mix it up, harden will have his moments, but lin should be the main ball handler on this team. He should be the one calling the plays at least half of the time.
Yeah pretty much. And it is weird to me because the Rockets run a PG oriented offense & yet that doesn't seem to be the case this season. I don't know if Lin is being passive by his own choosing or not. Like definitely the lane is packed so there really isn't anywhere for him to penetrate. Picks & screens (more complex variations of the two) aren't being run to get the guards open. No roll man. In consistent outside shooting. So many factors right now. I don't think it is coaching or the players just think it is the offense in general.
How Lin's game is affected by Harden: http://www.businessinsider.com/jeremy-lin-struggling-in-houston-2012-11
From the article above: Last year, Lin would have ranked 15th in the entire NBA in usage percentage if he played enough games to qualify. This year, he ranks 6th on his own team. He's scoring less, shooting less, and initiating the offense less. And the big reason why: James Harden.
James Harden is the BEST player on the team. Lin is going to have to learn how to play with him, not the other way around.
But the problem Harden isnt being used properly as well. In OKC's offense Harden was more often a spot up shooter and he's good at that while being the primary ball handler when playing with 2nd unit. In Houston? He's the primary ball handler in any situation and hes been struggling. He played his best 2 games when Lin actually had the ball in his hands --- first 2 games Lin had 25% and 27% usage rate. It works both ways.
Below is all you need to know about what kind of player Jeremy Lin is. This is straight from Lin's high school coach's mouth. It's no wonder he succeeded in NYC but has disappeared in Houston. Really sad that a high school coach can see this, but the professional Rockets coaches can't. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/TOdINo9PmOs&t=1m?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Maybe Lin should just lead the second unit... Since they are letting HArden play PG most of the time lately, why not give him delfino as the 3-pointer guy instead of trying to make Lin doing that... Just my simplistic thinking...
This graph tells me Jeremy Lin still shoots a crappy percentage with Harden on the vencj . He just gets more points cuz he throws up more shots
I bet you Sampson would cut Lin if he could. Here's a coach that didn't even put in the team's best rebounder for that Wade missed FT. And the assistant coaches didn't even tell Sampson to check Lin back into the game for the final shot. It's got to tell you how inexperienced and dumb this Rockets coaching staff is.
Haha. You do realize there are a lot of people that have for months stated he was bad on defense right?
