You got trolls that are just looking to get a rise out of lin fans for sure but there's also a lot of legit fans that can't even criticize him without being called out by lin fans. I think most long time posters here are used to it since it was like this when Yao was playing.
So Lin can't be compared to former Rockets guards, and he can't be compared to himself in New York. All of the sudden, the tone from that ""Melo egoistic ISO ball severely hindered Lin's development and contribution, where a new team full of young players fits Lin's great decision making and aggressiveness" has changed to "Laden with veteran superstars New York Knicks"? Just because Lin had a few bad games, and you try hard to dig everything around Lin but himself? And you call others dumb? Have a nice day.
man, i can't believe there is 41 pages on this thread, you guys been debating all night! An air ball doesn't make him any less of a player than he was before he air balled that shot. I'm getting what I expected from Lin, some flashes of potentially being an everyday starting PG but overall very flawed performanace due to lack of experience overall as well as with the team. He seems to make good passes, needs to hold on to the ball more (much more) and improve his shots. The shot selection is good, he just needs to be more confident and make them.
Oh shut up with this nonsense. "people in the south don't want him" what kind of ignorant statement is that to make? Thats like saying Lin cant be a good bsketball player because he is Asian. Comments based on pure ignorance will led to nowhere. Stop caring so much about stereotypes. Who cares what others think? How are their thoughts stopping you from doing what you want? If you keep letting it effect you, you will always be weak and will never overcome.
That airball was a pass to Omer but he didn't realize that Omer was on the bench. It would have been a thing of beauty that would have rivaled the NC State/Houston game ending score.
What are you even talking about?!! Listen don't blame me for what other people have said. Just because others have said this doesn't mean that is what I believe. Where the hell did I say Melo egotistic ISO ball cut it out with the coloring every poster with the same brush & quit putting words in my mouth. I have been extremely consistent with what I have said. This team doesn't have a capable pnr finisher that rolls hard to the rim that is a fact. They had that in NY Houston doesn't have that. NY spot up shooters to spread the floor Houston doesn't. NY had players who set proper picks & screens & different variances of the two Houston doesn't. So to compare the two situations & say that Lin now sucks is dumb because you have to take into consideration the difference in personell. But if you don't want to do that & say he sucks then go right ahead. And I honestly don't care if people compare Lin to Lowry & Dragic. I have said Lowry is the better player (as he should be) but I personally would take Lin over Dragic although a lot of people disagree. Comparing Lowry to Lin doesn't really make sense seeing as how Lowry got the Rockets Harden but compare if you want.
true, but wouldn't you agree that this goes beyond criticism. People calling him a joke, a fluke, never amount to anything The fact is this guy has a overall winning record in the nba, broke a record for most points in first 7 starts, won NBA player of the week last year. He is basically a rookie! he's 23 years old with good height, size and athleticism ( check out his athleticsim tests for speed, acceleration, etc.), he is an unselfish team player who sacrifices stats, and a overall good guy. yet, despite all this there are tons of people on here saying he will never amount to anything, that he was a fluke and shouldn't even be in the league! I don;t mind the posts criticising the airball itself or the game he had, but to say that this young inexperienced player will definitely never amount to anything in this league, that he is a fluke with no chance of improvement, this is more than just criticism. This is vitriol, this is venom, this is hate, a genuine disdain and lack of objective reasoning or criticism.
Me neither but it is getting more and more difficult to watch him play so passively. He is a smart dude.. Why is he sacrificing so much of his game?
Lin fan here. And he deserves criticism. He has been timid. Not even just now but during the preseason when he was looking to pass the ball off to Kmart only instead of looking for his shot. At some point after he got injured, he decided he needed to change his style of play, be more like a Rondo who looks to dish and rebound. He wanted to be considered more a true PG. he has voluntarily taken himself out of the offense because he thinks this is better for the team. And by taking fewer shots and mostly outside shots, his shooting becomes less consistent, he loses confidence in his shot, and the more he wants to "just facilitate". His airball last night was the culmination of his new mindset of how he wants to play. And it sucks. this is coming from a Lin fan. he sucks on the offensive end right now. During linsanity he would say things like "I want to stay aggressive, I want to play with energy". Now he says things like "I am going to take what the defense gives me". Very different attitude. The stats and the "eye test" when watching him don't lie. This JLin is a completely different player. And we are losing sleep for it.
No, you want to know why we dont want posts like this in this forum? Because they are neither true nor are they on-topic. You dont know this forum You dont know the history of this forum You dont know the attitudes and tendencies of the forum You in general...know nothing of this forum, yet you have the gall to come in here and accuse us of being RACISTS? I'm offended, you dont know me, you dont know what race I am(like it matters) and you dont know my history. Im not gonna get into why I get so offended to be called a racists by someone who doesnt even know me because IT DOESNT BELONG IN THE GARM. We have a forum here that is set aside for delicate topics....race, religion,politics.....If you wish to discuss how racist we all are TAKE IT IN THERE...It's called the D&D http://bbs.clutchfans.net/forumdisplay.php?f=28 now....to address a common problem here.....this forum has always been known as a place for honest analysis, we rag on every player who doesnt meet expectations(and a few that do). If a player makes a mistake or screws up in any way, fans here will and do complain and whine about it....it isnt racial, it is normal. It happens no matter where that player comes from and what color his skin is. If you cant handle your favorite player getting criticized, maybe this forum is not where you want to be. We may be the biggest Rockets site, but we arent the only one....go find one more to your liking...cause I can tell you one thing....you keep draggin race up in this forum, the decision to leave here will no longer be yours to make
I totally agree. Just amazed at the ridiculous outcry, it's just one game. Some of these people need to get a life!
Here's a post I can agree with. His defense has improved tremendously, but his offensive efficiency is just not there. At least not yet. Jeremy needs to just play his game. Pay no attention to the pressure or scrutiny. Pay no attention to the naysayers. Just be yourself and play your game. He was a fantastic offensive player last year, and I'm certain he can be the same this year.
The team played their hearts out yesterday and played their best game since the season started (despite the loss) and all people can focus on is one airball.
Lin has lost that explosiveness and he had a hard time to finish in the paint, and his once inconsistent shot is now sometimes even worse. You are right that Asik and Patterson are nowhere near Tyson and Amare in terms of PnR, but that's why Lin's contribution is more needed. Lin is no longer a bench player with minimum pay, and on this young team, he was acquired with top money (in his situation). Leadership and great performance are expected. I never said Lin sucks, as a matter of fact, I was labeled YOF before, and was called Lin Fan on Chinese boards. However, when Lin performs BELOW his OWN ABILITY, I will criticize him, instead of finding everything wrong surrounding him. Houston Rockets is not exactly the same as New York Knicks, that's for sure, but when so-called "opponents parking in the paint and leave you open" strategy can totally take your offense away, you know your shots are wayyy off. When you don't have a shot or don't even have the confidence to shoot, playing PnR with you is not going to help.
That's just how it is when it comes to any professional sport. Fans are too emotionally attached to their teams. You are always going to have fans that can get pretty nasty when they feel a player isn't living up to his/her expectations or what they are paid. Take Barry Zito for an example, the only way for the criticism to go away is if lin plays well consistently. Lin has to at least show more heart than he did last game. He was looking to pass the ball as soon as possible after he got pass half court and go stand somewhere on the perimeter. Heats didn't even have to guard him and left him wide open most of the game. It's just extremely frustrating to watch him being that passive and it looked like he was scared for most of the game.
