I don't get why so many people think Lin has played poorly. He has shot poorly from the field (although his % are trending up), and he has NOT hogged the ball and chucked up many shots (so his PPG are down). Other than that, his play in every single other area (assists, turnovers, steals, blocks, rebounds, loose balls, defense, help defense, FT%, decision making) has been at least as a good starting NBA PG. I think this goes to either 1) people who only judge players by FG% or 2) people who are judging him by the way he looks and acts (judging by appearance over substance).
no everybody is pissed because he fckn airballed if you think we would rather see Lin suck and lose than Lin do good and win, then you are weird. all these former nyk lin fans cant think
Were you all as pissed when Chandler missed a 3 in the beginning? Or Delfino missed his first 2 3s when he came in? Or when Harden missed his 5 3s? If you answered no to any of them, then you have some serious problem.
One other thing that people haven't mentioned that much is that he seems to tire really quickly. He seemed exhausted when he made that second 3 point shot. He has to really improve his conditioning to the point where he can play 38 minutes regularly at a high intensity without getting fatigued.
Did you just start discussing basketball yesterday? When was the last time fans care about 1st quarter misses over crunch time misses? If you are sick of Rockets fans placing more emphasis on crunch time failings over before, then you should leave this board. Because it's been this way for the 10 years I've been here, and it will still be the case in the future.
Just because that's the way fans act doesn't mean it's right. It's no longer a intelligent discussion, but a couple of children whining. If you are okay with this attitude, that's fine by me. But I would like to point out the flaws of the observation in hopes for a better discussion opportunity in the future to come.
We have still not won a home game which is alarming. If not for the ugly white blouses that the players have to wear they might have a better record.
He's not going to have the ball in his hands because we have James Harden who is a PNR player too. Lin signed here before the trade went through so that's not his fault. That said, reality is you give the ball to Harden because he's a much better player. I do agree we have absolutely no help on offense for either guy. Paul milsap would be perfect here
and some of these clutchfans call themselves "True Fans" of the team. these "True Fans" are happy that Lin aired the 3 just so they can bash him. they would rather see the Rockets lose than see Lin hit a game winner. pathetic bunch.
You make an account on a Rockets fan forum and expect an intelligent conversation by calling Rockets fans "you people"? Seriously? Look, I understand there's not a convenient "Jeremy Lin discussion forum" that you guys can go to, so you make do with the Houston Rockets message board. But at least have the courtesy to pretend you care about this team along with Jeremy Lin. At least understand that Rockets fans don't care about Linsanity and our emotions, rational or irrational, are tied mostly to the Rockets. And understand that having a bunch of fans who don't give a damn about this team probably doesn't promote rational discussion. I actually expected to start this season defending Lin against Dragic/Lowry fans who hated the signing. Never thought I'd be arguing against Lin.
I disagree with this. One is a better scorer/shooter than the other. One is a better passer/facilitator than the other. Both are great PNR guards. It is easy to figure out which is which. So by that logic wouldn't it make more sense to cater to each players strengths & cut it out with the square peg round hole business. Nobody is saying that Harden can't be the lead guard once in a while but he is doing it for the majority of the game & it is stupid. Lin & Harden had a perfect balance in the first two games & all of this has changed since Harden's MVP level performances. And Milsap/Josh Smith/Jefferson would be a quick fix solution he won't make this team that much greater of a title contender.
He's never hogged the ball so that's irrelevant. His poor shooting is a real problem. His defense hasn't been good either. He plays the passing lanes well because he has a high basketball IQ but he's not a good on ball defender. His rebounding has been great though and i doubt anyone ever questioned his hustle (loose balls) 1) He needs to be able to hit open shots and he hasn't so far. 2) I think most people have a ton of respect for how he acts. He's a great person
His defense has been good actually both eye tests & numbers back that up. By synergy numbers he is one of the better defenders on this team. The reason why people feel he isn't a good on the ball defender is because guys pick him off & help defense doesn't come. Memphis commentators said as much. Or because in end of regulation plays McHale would rather players defend the guy in the paint (for the higher % shot) & sacrifice the open lower % shot some coaches have a "protect the paint" mantra. But yeah everything outside of his FG% has been solid.
