yeah he is almost like get me the hell out of this place and let me back up Nash in LA. all kidding aside, I think that was his way of telling the coaches here to set him free in the offensive scheme. I was hoping the lakers would get Phil back so that we have a chance to get Dantoni. But if the coaching staff doesn't change their usage of Jeremy, he will suffer and will end up being traded to the Lakers after a big failure here.
I've been watching all the Rockets game since the pre season. That was an exciting game. I don't know why everyone was frustrated. We were bound to lose to begin with. But our team stayed close with them. It was really fun. I got excited during the third quarter. I never expected for us to win against the Heat.
The Rockets was fine on D today. The raw # scored, or even points per possession, does not tell the story. Specifically, the Rockets kept the Heat out of the paint for the most part and contested their Js at a reasonable rate. In particular, Lebron Jame's 38 points included a good number of pull-up contested Js-- he just hit them at a higher rate than he normally does. They made some mistakes but not more than the average NBA team does in the average NBA game. One of the most significant numbers for tonight: only 13 FTs made on 20 FT attempts against 89 FG attempts by Miami, which is below not only their own average, but that of the average NBA team-- and this isn't because the Rockets just left Miami open all day, either.
I agree that the number of defensive mistakes was around average, but they couldn't really afford them today. The Heat seemed to have no trouble scoring on us, they didn't really have an extended offensive drought, and they could almost turn it on at will.
We were supposed to lose this game. The fact that we were even close is commendable. We were playing the freaking champs. They were supposed to expose us, so that we know what to improve upon. We are a young team. Too many damn sky is falling posts around here.
Maybe Lin's airball was a message to the coach that he's not fricking Ray Allen. Hope to see a totally new offensive scheme against the Hornets. But why do I get the sinking feeling that Kelvin Sampson will use this as an excuse to split time between Lin and Toney Douglas?
Seriously. The whole narrative coming into this game was the Heat previously took down Lin (in his 8th career start) and Harden (under playoff pressure). IN the final analysis, both guys did amazingly better against this team - without the Knicks or Thunder squads. Losses suck but this one hurts less the more I think about it.
as a knick fan who's seen plenty of Toney Douglas.......you better hope he doesnt. At best Douglas will hit you a couple 3's but that if you're lucky.
SMH...We paid him based on 26 games and you judge him based on what? 7 games? And he is an elite defender right now ... he stopped many plays by the opponents...if it's not him we wouldn't come back in the 3rd Q.
^ And also..he is still recovering from surgery...just give him time...they are all still young ...some people have no patient...
Great game. Expected much much less. Loved the fight the team had and this game clearly showed that the heart/soul of this team is Parsons. If he scrambles/hustles and does "good" things, this team gets fired up. Lin's airball was painful but he was alright overall and played great D throughout. Morris is proving us all wrong time and again with good D (against LBJ!) and 3's. You can criticize Delfino for taking 3's but it's a fact that the offense flows better with him. Patterson stepped up with D, hustle and nice post moves. Asik was a flat-out monster on both ends of the floor (I'm sorry I ever doubted his offensive effectiveness ). Harden came through with great playmaking at times. Overall, much better than I ever expected. It's painful to watch one that we could have won slip away, but so much of that was due to inexperience, bad calls, and some untimely bad coaching (thought Sampson was good overall; the last 4 minutes undermines his overall grade). Again, I'd like to see more aggressiveness from Lin, less forcing from Harden, more plays run for Harden, MORE Morris, and more praise for Parsons!
why can't the media ask this question about Jeremy being so passive in the current offensive scheme - about how he is resorted to being a spot up shooter. I mean we can't be the only ones seeing this.
Sampson is a good coach...but still inexperience... I will give him more time. He will be a above average coach. I have faith on him. He made many right decisions b4 the last 4 mins.
well Jeremy had two airballs from the three in this game. The coaches got to see that he is not a three point shooter. But they must have also seen some beautiful passes he made as well. Not sure why they don't make him the primary ball handler. Please someone in the media ask this question.
If the coaches do not like his game and think that he can not do the things that the coaches ask him to do, why not trade him? I'll happy for him. I feel pain when I saw him run to the 3 pt line and waiting for the ball and can do nothing else.
