Has anyone checked his stats lately? This guy is brutal. Yet here in NY, all the idiot Jets fans are blaming the coaches, tebow, wrs, eva longoria for his struggles. lol I'm aamzed that Rex Ryan continues to stick with his as QB. I can understand not wanting to put Tebow in there, but geeus, how about the 3rd string guy at this point? 52% completion, 10 TDs, 9 INTs, 8 Fumbles...smh I challenge someone to find me a starter with worse numbers than this. rep points for anyone who makes a convincing case
Brandon Weeden? 55%, 67.9 QB rating, 9 TD, 12 INT, and 3 fumbles. And he's 29 years old. Poor Browns, just another stopgap at QB.
Amazingly, Tebow last year had a better TD/INT ratio and higher QB Rating than Sanchez this year. I was surprised they didn't at least allow Tebow to play the last drive or two yesterday when the game was already decided. There's no reason to not at least try and see what happens. Or at least try Greg McElroy. You've got to think Rex Ryan's job is on the line, so he's got to give management some reason to think he can turn it around.
I think he threw 4-5 of those TDs in his first game. His age muddles up any estimation of upside, but at least he's the kind to keep taking shots downfield and not retreat into his shell ala Gabbert.
Derek Anderson 2.0? Mark Sanchez sucks. He has always sucked. They should start Tebow, just to try get some life into that team, especially with the lack of receivers.
Not even looking at the stats, but Gabbert? That guy is awful. Ponder sucks too, and he has Peterson and Harvin. Sanchez has no one.
I'm no defender of Rex Ryan, but I see his point. Tebow is NOT the answer for them. From what I've seen this season, he's an even worse passer than last year. The run of dumb luck Tebow had in Denver is long gone. When Rex switches to Tebow, there is no going back. To save his job, the only bet is to hope Sanchez flips the switch the next 2 games and they make a miraculous playoff run. If that doesn't happen, it will definitely be Tebow time because there will be nothing to lose. On the other hand, Rex may decide to never give Tebow a chance this season just to stick it to everyone who wants him.
I think he has made claim to his bosses that Sanchez is better. I think he gets fired if he is proven wrong.
Gabbert is pretty close. He's got a 51% completion rate and is 12/16 TDs/TOs. Ugh. Both are pretty bad. repped.
He's dealing with "identity" issues. Once he's true to himself and the world then I think he'll flourish.
Sanchez is pathetic, but he IS better than Tebow. Rex's future doesn't depend on which QB is better, it depends on (at minimum) the Jets making the playoffs. Sanchez is his only hope.
I never really thought Sanchez would be a good QB but going to the Jets was the worse thing for his development. You can't tell me that Sanchez can't be as good as Alex Smith, who for all intensive purposes isn't great but isn't bad either. I think if Kubiak could get his hands on Sanchez as a back up, it would do wonders for his game - that is if his confidence is shot ala david carr.
Sanchez is not a good QB but you're kidding yourself if you don't think his supporting cast has to do with some of it.
It won't necessarily be desperation. No team will hand Sanchez a starting job. He will merely be given a chance to compete.
