can you tell me which LOF you are talking about? "LOFs have to stop with all that LIN worshiping" most LOFs think Lin is a good player right now... none think he is a superstar... he certainly isnt playing like one this year
Actually Jason the team reporter was listing the potential FAs next summer that Morey might chase, CP3 is one of them. You never know what might happen. Let's be honest, Harden is the only one on the team that is not gonna be moved, no other player is untouchable, Lin Asik, Parsons all can be traded. I don't see Pau Gasol coming to Rockets ( too old to fit in), but if CP3 is truly available, you bet Morey would be very interested. Now that D'Antoni is the Laker's coach and we all know he really likes Lin, you never know if Lakers might want to trade to get Lin to backup Nash, especially considering Nash won't be able to play long mins. Lin's salary wouldn't be a problem at all since Lakers never care about paying lux tax. It might be a 3 team trade, Lakers-Rockets-LAC. Anything is possible, especially when Morey and Lakers are involved.
No comment about possible CP3 trade, but as for PnR big men, the PnRs with Asik and Patterson are just invitations to trap the ball-handler. We've already seen that happen already, even in the recent Memphis game. The opposing team isn't reliably punished for double teaming/trapping the ball-handler. The PnR is just broken with the current frontcourt starters. I'd like to see Morris/Smith/Jones developed as roll men.
I agree, with most, if not, all of this. Kid needs some time to grow. At the moment his playing around average for a PG (not bad, not great), but we don't really know what his ceiling is. I really think he's needs a veteran PG to learn some tricks off.
Cp3 won't come here, no Pnr guy, not enough talent here (too young) and not anywhere close to a championship contender. Cp3 pretty much has to stay with the clippers. They're gunning for a championship. If Cp3 moved here, he'd have to do way too much work, which I don't think he'd want to do.
I've been tracking PER among PGs as well. Yeah, Lin's current PER is average. However, keep in mind that PER is weighted heavily in favor of scoring (including volume scoring over efficiency), so it's no surprise that Lin's PER is unimpressive; you don't need to look at stats like that to notice he isn't shooting well and isn't shooting much. I would say his PER is pretty good considering how poor his shooting has been AND the very limited number of field goals he is attempting. Think about it -- why is his PER average despite his VERY BELOW AVERAGE shooting stats? It's because his other stats are very good -- precisely the categories that are the least variable over time and most indicative of skill such as REB/AST/STL. There is simply no way his PER can remain this low bc this is basically the bottom as far as Lin's scoring ability. Whether it's related to injury recovery, or deferring to coaches/star, or getting used to teammates -- whatever it is, his scoring will not remain this low. (If you look at his field goal attempts relative to other teammates, he is certainly NOT being treated like the 2nd offensive option no matter what people are assuming is the case.) In the Wins Produced model, which attempts to weigh player output according to their contribution to wins, Lin is well above average. His WP48 (Wins Produced per 48 min) is actually the highest among players on the team with significant minutes. http://www.thenbageek.com/teams/hou?direction=desc&sort="WP48" The average WP48 is pegged at .100 for every position. Lin's current WP48 is .212. FWIW, Dragic's is .194. (Harden's is .148, due to his recent shooting inefficiency. Patterson actually has a negative WP48 of -.029! Bench that clown already.) Also, keep in mind WP48 heavily favors shooting efficiency over volume, more so than in PER calculation, so if Lin's REB/STL/AST numbers stay the same and he just raises his shooting efficiency, his WP48 will jump considerably. The major weakness in Lin's stats right now is shooting, and I expect that the go up, after which his PER will easily rise. If you look at metrics like WP48, it is clear that his total package stats are well above average. We have yet to see Lin play his best. He is still an unfinished product.
Please please please someone explain to me why I post here for 9 years and since July 2012 the pick and roll has become the single greatest basketball play on this board! It's everywhere! Oh, because NY had no offense and poor Frazier had to point pout any semblance of a basketball play.
No he said that they Gasol is one of the people that Morey is on the prowl for. He never mentioned CP3., the other guy that he was posting to on twitter mentioned CP3. Chris Paul is not coming to Houston. He will stay in LA, because I think Clippers will be a championship contender this year
prob as an expiring next season like other posters mentioned?(like kmart) - for matching purpose . Of course rockets still need to include sweeteners like picks in the deal. Player 2012/13 2013/14 Pau Gasol $19,000,000 $19,285,850
Man, I hope Lin gets traded to the Lakers. Lin will be back to a system where his strengths are utilized instead of here, where his role is to help on defense and be a spot up shooter ala Bruce Bowen.
Ah, okay. Thx for explanation. I haven't been following the Gasol trade thread, which is probably where these discussions should go. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=228515
Why do people have star expectations of Jeremy Lin when he's not getting paid star money? It's as though Lin has to be twice as good as the average PG to make the same salary. Hey, that George Hill is making $8mil a year too, and his Indiana Pacers aren't challenging the Miami Heat for tops in the east! What a bust!
His jumper has been terrible so far but I also don't see how having him stand in the corner is a good use of his skills either. He looks good when he is the team's primarly playmaker. Harden is the man but I don't think he should be the primary PG.
