The solution is simple. Divide into five states first which would then allow the "real" Texas to secede without carrying the Takers along for the ride. Austin and Houston stay in the Republic, all other parts follow Perry.

What about the liberal part along the Rio Grande? Does Obama keep it or does it go back to Mexico?

You voted for Obama and you think I'm ignorant???? What I am saying is I would like to see oil wells everywhere. I wish that were there US policy now. If Texas was a country, we could achieve energy independence and become a wealthy country by simply drilling for all the oil we can. If you think we are drilling for oil everywhere we can then you are indeed ignorant. Drilling for oil is a much better energy policy than throwing away billions of dollars on "green" energy failures trying to push something before it's time. I am really concerned Obama will double down with the stupid 'green" agenda and we will be paying 6+ dollars a gallon for gas by 2016. If he is smart and wants to get America back to work he push for more drilling and make energy independence a goal of his second term. Being a lame duck, he does not have to answer to the tree hugging environmental whackos at the ballot box. He needs to do the right thing and stop our dependence on foreign oil.

You didn't just drink the Kool-Aid my friend. You're bathing in the Kool-Aid.

I know you might find this terribly offensive, but is there any room in your worldview for the possibility that you might be wrong?

This whole thing is non-news. Even if there are 500,000 signatures for the petition, there is ZERO chance that any of those states will actually secede. So...who cares?

Most of this crying, backlash and kneejerk reactionary bullcrap about Romney losing will fade away within the next few weeks, and most people - including many Republicans - will get over it and move on with their lives.

Yes, you're pretty ignorant. There's a reason for the push for green energy. It has something to do with the reality that carbon fuels are dirty and the current path is unsustainable. It's not a stupid agenda, it's a reality agenda. Environmentalism isn't whacko, wanting clean air and water isn't extreme. Here's a clue for you, oil is a world market. Even if we didn't buy foreign oil the price wouldn't magically be lower because of that. We don't set the price, the market sets the price. You act like drilling "everywhere we can" doesn't have negative consequences. Step out of the bubble every once in a while, there's a whole world out here.

Might sign this just for the lulz.

But really though, it always surprises me how dumb Republicans are.

The rio grande is already a natural border against Mexico. The plan is to militarize the area against aliens, and to build a wall along the u.s. ....we will still maintain a status of ally, but we will not allow the u.s. foreign policy to intimidate the Republic of Texas ...

I think it's the part where he forgets our oil industry was started by Yankees who built the banks and engineering schools that kept the cash in state, and saved by Texans who curbed the drilling. How anyone who lived here in the '80s and could expect to run a state or local economy based on global commodity markets is just bonkers.

Keep in mind which side is mostly like to have the guns and ammo. Personally, I have stockpiled and practiced for years . .It will be a lot easier if you liberals cooperate with the transfer of power. We can either do this the easy way, or we can do this real easy....

(Rep points for anyone who remembers the movie line from the last sentence btw)
