For the sake of Lin's development, yes 200% agreed, who doesn't want to play with Nash as a pg. For the sake of the Rockets, I would not prefer to have Blake or Duhon as our starting pg. I love your trade proposal if it happens.
What is Morey and Les' goal for this year? Making the playoffs. If Morey wanted anything less he wouldn't of signed Delfino. Sorry, 2K but you should prepare for a move soon.
Is this a joke? I feel like I'm being trolled by the entire bbs. What is the obsession with Pau freakin' Gasol???
Lol, sorry....but no Id gladly put my membership here on the line to back up what I said. We Will Not Trade for Pau Gasol. Delfino is here cause you have to have a vet or two around to help teach the younguns how to handle yourself in the NBA. Nothing more, nothing less. Drummer2k.....its only Lin fans wishing that Lin would go somewhere that will "use him right". Just like the Yaofans used to dream of the Rockets trading Yao to someone that would use him right....it was that mean old JVG that insisted on using him as a low post threat.
It's time to push for Gasol when his value is at its lowest (mainly because of D'antoni's hiring). Give them Patterson and Morris for Gasol!!!
A package that includes Lin for Gasol would be a blockbuster for LA now D'antoni is there. Which is why we need to at least be prepared for it.
Im not so sure about LA wanting anything to do with Lin. 8.3 mil for a backup PG once Nash comes back? Im sorry guys, but I just dont see them conceding to this even if it does re-unite Mike D. and Lin. A perfect situation where Lin would be involved would be something like if CP3 decided he was not going to re-sign with the Clippers and they needed to get something back for him in trade that their fans could get excited about. Totally different scenario in LA because Nash is signed for the next couple of seasons at 9+ mil a season. If they acquired Lin, what does that say about their confidence in Nash who is the original D'Antoni PG extraordinaire.
For his contract and the mental fortitude he's shown when put against adversity Gasol is trash, I'd rather run with the 6 PFs we have the roster then gamble on a player like that. And did people forget how he went to the media and said that he didn't WANT to play for Houston before the Houston, LA and NO trade crashed due to Stern? Gasol is basically Odom with a worst contract, good at times but his only success has been with LA and his national team. Everywhere else he's struggled and you don't want a potential locker room cancer with that much money on the books to come to the team.
We. Are. Not. Trading. LIN. He means too much money to Les and to whatever player he can bring here: "And, oh, yeah, (Free Agent or Guy We Trade For), how'd you like some more cash from all the jerseys you'll sell in China?"
How much money is too much money, other than the Tire company, I haven't heard anything. Which player has Lin brought to Rockets, definitely not Harden. Lin is extremely popular in Taiwan, but questionable in mainland China. Do you know the size of the population in Taiwan?
How dare you compare Gasol to Odom. The basketball gods should strike you down right now wherever you are. Look up how many players last season averaged at least 17Pt's and 10 Rebounds a game. You would be shocked at the list of players. Hint there are only 6 of them, and all 6 are VERY, VERY good players. Also this was just this last season.... we aren't talking about 4 years ago. The point about Gasol not wanting to come to Houston- From last seasons exit interview- Gasol said the initial news of a possible trade to Houston wasn't as difficult as the rumors that followed, admitting, "It kind of wore me down at times. You get exhausted at times. Once it was off the table, it was better for me. We could talk about something else. "It was refreshing." Of a whole new round of speculation and rumors, he said, "I wish I could have clarification right now, but they can't give it to me. They have to talk to (upper) management. ... If they knew it would be good to know." Does this sound like a guy who is going to pout and refuse to play for Houston if he is traded? Kind of sounds to me, like he's pretty mentally prepared for it as of this last Summer. The initial reports were that Gasol was dissapointed to have been involved in the trade but said NOTHING negative about Houston. The reports were more centered around not wanting to leave LA, not that he hated the city of Houston. Come on.... wake up people... its LA, who would be excited to leave LA and go anywhere? Gasol would be fine in Houston. There are far worse places in the NBA to get traded to, and the addition of Lin/Asik/Harden makes Houston a very attractive place for an all-star PF to get traded to. Gasol also is the best passing big man in the game. Those of you who want more Adelman-style motion in the offense, look no further than Gasol who could make life much easier for Lin and Harden offensively to get easy buckets coming off picks and screens early in the games. Like I said before, Gasol is older, yes, but his game is such that he does not rely on his athleticism to do what he does. His game has been butchered since Phil Jackson left LA, but yet he has still been very productive even playing out of character in Lakerland. I personally believe Gasol has 4 or 5 really good years left in the tank, much less just 2. Given what is currently out there to trade for, Morey should pounce if the deal doesn't destroy the teams future moving forward, which it shouldn't being only on a 2 year deal. The Rockets might not be able to match up with the Heat initially on paper, but they sure would create some fuss in the West, and be a very fun team to watch.
For multiple reasons, Lin will not be traded unless it's in deal involving Chris Paul. Trading either Lin, Harden or Asik would send a negative message to all future free agents that Rockets only consider every player as an asset. It will not happen.
Yep, he's one of 6 big men in the NBA that can do what does and oh... He also has Brad Miller-like passing ability. Something the other 5 big men do not have. To say he's a unique big man is a huge understatement.
Right now we are relying on Asik to provide one half of the PnR and its not working because he can't roll, handle the pass, or finish. What we need is Gasol to fulfill that role and have Asik under the basket to defend and rebound. Gasol makes perfect sense for this team and will make them an instant playoff team. Morey needs to do whatever it takes here.
Jeremy Lin currently has 2,976,790 followers in China on Weibo (Chinese Twitter), 1.8M facebook followers, and 912,207 twitter followers. The population of Taiwan is 22 Million people. For a point of reference, Dwyane Wade has 1.8M Weibo followers, 6.7M facebook followers and 3.8M twitter followers. So yah, he's pretty darn popular. Not Kobe/Lebron popular, but pretty darn popular.
If Gasol/ Asik are on the court together at the same time, Asik would be the one coming up to screen for the guard, and Gasol would be spacing the floor. That's why I alway thought Gasol was definitely a better option at center than most people thought. Nobody wants him solely defending the likes of Dwight Howard one on one in the post, but truth is, there really isn't that many Dwight Howards left in the NBA. If the Rockets somehow aquired Gasol, I see reduced minutes for Asik especially late in games when it becomes much more difficult to score.
