Firstly, I hope I'm not stepping on any toes for creating such a thread. If I'm out of line with this please lock it up. My hope for this thread is to cut down on the volume of similar threads that have been cluttering up the garm. If you're a Rockets fan then by all means let your voice be heard, it just doesn't always have to be with a new thread. Thread examples that may not be needed: McHale Sucks Lin Sucks Morris Sucks etc. etc. So, you can voice any concerns or complaints almost as you would propose a trade in the Random Trade Thread. I'm well aware that there are times where threads need to be started, that's what drives this site. I'm just hoping this helps streamline things some in the Garm. I'll go first. Why is this guy starting a thread about starting threads!
I'm so frustrated that Harden and Lin don't have a good PnR big to play with. Asik is a beast defensively and I like him a lot, but he isn't a good fit for them offensively.
Harden sucks; Parsons sucks; Ppat sucks; Asik sucks; Douglas sucks; Delfino sucks; Smith sucks; Aldrich sucks; Dmo sucks; Tjones sucks; Machado sucks; White sucks; Morey sucks; Les sucks; Howard Chen sucks; Rockets sucks; Stern sucks; NBA sucks; Pau sucks; Howard sucks; Josh Smith sucks; Bynum sucks; Coaching sucks; Offense/Defense sucks; CSN sucks. There, hopefully I covered most of the past/current/future complaints.
I don't believe in LOFs vs. LOHs and all that garbage, but I'm a little put out by some of the Lin fans proposing trades for Lin (for example to the Lakers ), because they're unhappy with how Lin is being coached/used... 6 games in.
OP already mentioned Lin, McHale and Morris. BUT just in case, Lin sucks; McHale sucks; Morris sucks.
Observations 1. Harden shoots too much. He has a field goal attempts per minute rate (almost .50) that is equal to or higher than alpha dogs like LeBron or Kobe. It might be even higher since Harden goes to the line a lot too (almost 10 FT attempts a game). 2. Lin doesn't shoot enough. He seems to bring the ball up the court and then immediately dishes it off. He has 11.2 FG attempts in 34.7 minutes/game, which is a rate of less than 0.33. As the Rockets' #2 scoring option, he should be shooting more. 3. The Rockets PFs all shoot way too many 3s. Morris, PPat, TJones all average at least 2.2 3Pt attempts a game, which PFs should not do. Conversely, PPat isn't rebounding like a PF should. 4. The Rockets don't have a legitimate offensive post presence to get easy high percentage baskets. Need more DMo. 5. Not sure why Parsons gets all this playing time. He's like Luke Walton or Landry Fields - a jack of all trades, master of none player who doesn't hurt you too much but doesn't help that much either. I see him out of the league in a few years. 6. Marcus Morris and Greg Smith are being productive, I hope they get more minutes that PPat. But I really hope DMo gets significant minutes (25+).
Chandler parsons is a stud defender, which neither Fields or Walton are. And neither of them are out of the league anyway lol. Parsons will always have teams that want a good defender and solid rebounding from the sf spot.
1. I'm OK with Harden shooting as many shots as he has, but he's been in a slump and sort of came out of in against Detroit. Lets hope he keeps it up against Miami this game. It's also officiating, he plays the same every game but some games the officials call everything, others they don't. 2. I think Lin definitely needs to shoot more, and be more aggressive. Last game against Detroit, he had a clear layup, but was scared of Tayshaun Price so he pumped faked it under the rim. He needs to just take it up strong, and if he gets fouled so be it. It's also a product of the way the offense is set up, plays need to be called for him. I was livid when Patterson refused to come out and set a pick for him. Lin needs to be more vocal. 3. I think the coaches are realizing that PPat is soft, hence his 16 minutes last game and more playing time for Terrence Jones. I'm OK with us spacing the floor for Harden and Lin, It'll start paying dividends in the long run. 4. I don't think DMo would be the answer since he's sort of a Bargnani/Dirk type. I think Asik just needs to be more confident in himself, he looks terrified getting the ball in the post, and tries to kick back out as soon as possible. But in the times that he does shoot, and take it to the hole he's successful. 5. Parsons should be 20 minutes per game, not 40. Agreed. 6. I see Morris, Jones and Smith getting time. I wonder if we should run Phoenix style and just keep subbing in and out, give every 15 minutes full sprint with DMo, White, Machado. Take advantage of our youth.
I agree with some of your points nut not your point on Parsons, I think he will be in the league for years. Maybe he will have a better career than you did, who knows.
