It was aiight... I wouldn't say worst, I love the Micchone kitana practice/ zombie fight club/ Rick punk'd Glenn/ Daryl the father, some good tender moments in episode 5...
Rick is just losing it and he thinks its "Lori" on the other line. Just his own way of dealing with her death.

Why would there be no trace of Lori? And, why would they show Rick finding an intact bullet where Lori was supposed to be unless they are implying Carl fired a shot but intentionally missed Lori (cause he couldn't do it) or maybe he shot her in the head but missed the brain. The bullet didn't appear fragmented at all..which was kind of strange. I find it hard to believe that Lori was completely gone unless she is now a walker and walked away. Otherwise, we're saying the zombies completely devoured her bones and all. Or, we had multiple zombies walking away with drumsticks and her head. There has been no indication the zombies do anything but feed where the body lies and aren't dragging bodies off (and since when do they eat bones?). And, if they are implying the one zombie Rick found down there had Lori in his gut (was that why it had a huge gut versus just a zombie with a beer gut?), then that was silly. I was almost expecting that one zombie to be Lori at first and Rick was going to have to finish her. Also, I thought Rick stabbing the zombie in the stomach was more symbolic of how Rick blamed Shane's baby for taking Lori away from him. But, someone mentioned he could have been looking for the wedding ring. I dunno...that whole sequence was suspect. And, then the phone rings and we don't know if it is real or Rick has lost it. I'm probably just overthinking some of that and we are to assume Lori was finger licking good.
Rick in the comic seemed a lot more in control/reserved.. I mean he'll go off when he needs to but I don't think at any point in the comic does Rick gets emotional and start losing his **** endangering other members of the group.. Or that's how I see it... The Rick on the tv show seems like a complete nut an emotional wreck that can't think straight....
Okay...I just read an interview with the exec producer on the latest episode and I have no knowledge of the comics at all so here it is: Spoiler Lori is definitely not coming back as a zombie even though he acknowledges they didn't show Carl shooting his Mom in the head. They knew they would open up some doubts (sounded intentional) about whether she actually was gone or not by not showing Carl actually doing the deed. They filmed it in a way to play games with the viewer is what it boiled down to.
Lori's death in the comic is completely different, so there's nothing to read into with the producer's comments. however, they are starting to build a lot of similarities between the Governor's character in the comics and show. Spoiler one big difference I noticed is that the Governor is getting a lot more character development in the show. Makes me wonder if he will ever exhibit the same level of bloodlust/brutality as in the comic. Hopefully the storyarch with Andrea leads to bringing out the worst in him
The special effects have been awesome this season. They were pretty good before, especially the makeup, but this season it seems like they've been using a lot more digital effects when killing the zombies and it's consistently been great.
Spoiler I think they are making an effort to make his character more nuanced. I always thought the comic version seemed to far out there to have any sort of following, TV version feels more realistic. I think the whole thing with notebook leads me to think he's pretty unhinged and we'll start seeing to what extent.
Spoiler they seem to be taking their time building the character, so I am optimistic as far as where this is heading... like you said the comic character really went over the top, so toning it down the way they have thus far hasn't disappointed me on an unrelated note, I can't help but forsee Merle returning the favor to Rick at some point this season (hand). might even be the season cliffhanger at the pace they are going
Spoiler I think it's a smart move for the TV versions. Get the feeling that's going to happen this season and think that they've split some of the comic's Governor into Merle
when does it air again or do I have to wait till 7 pm next sunday? I missed it because of the game. (i really don't use the dvr.) {Cool zombie story bro} I was watching "The Mist" with the punisher while waiting for the game. Turns out half the cast in that movie are in The Walking Dead.
That's because Frank Darabont directed The Mist, he was one of the original show runners until they booted him before season 2.
Cleaving a zombie in half with a sword might work in the comic, but it looks silly in a show. Just because the series is about zombies shouldn't mean that realism is just tossed out the window, but this is a small gripe. Overall, season three is vastly superior to season two, and I think the obvious reason is budget. When the writers have a bigger budget, they can do cooler things. Season three is a vindication for the original producer. AMC should have listened to him from the very beginning.
