No need. Probably a separate thread, but the amount of intermediary military and police forces that have been formed at every level of government since Appomattox and Texas v. White would have Austin surrounded in minutes.

This was already ruled an illegal act by treaties and the Courts and should be removed for consideration by the Executive branch immediately.

Balanced budget? Texas is anywhere between $15 and $30 billion in the hole.

I'll join the fight. Great opportunity to take out a few ass backward dumbasses that reside in Texas.

Not that I support this, but if all the income tax being paid to the federal government by the citizens of the state of Texas started going to the "country" of Texas then I think it is safe to say any budget shortfalls would be erased. Of course there would be a ton of new expenses too.

For the record, we are among 19 States where citizens have started petitions to secede. Kind of crazy, but there were similar talks (all be it I don't think there were near as many -- if any -- actual petitions after the 2004 election. Many liberals claimed they would move to Canada, if they would get rid of hockey...

Personally, I think we should all agree that the federal government should focus on ensuring equality. How they do so is debated fiercely by both sides. I believe ensuring equality by taking from others and giving to another, is what it is...which is taking from people to give to others, aka redistribution. That is what Obama wants, and that is what just under half the country is against.

While Reid and Obama declare they have a mandate to raise taxes, half the population is just as opposed to it as the other half is adamant. Obama and the federal government have taken it upon themselves to "even out" American wealth. It's not their place to decide who makes what, who gets what, it should be up to Americans to decide their future. The government should focus on ensuring that everyone has the same opportunities for a prosperous future. They don't need to redistribute wealth, they need to redistribute education.

I find it pretty sad you would even think like this.

I find it laughable that you find it sad. What is proper hypothetical civil war sentiment protocol then ~ please remind us.

That's what I was thinking.... no danger there. In fact, that whole paragraph quoted in the original OP is pretty funny.
