Pick and roll all game with Lin/Harden, call plenty of TO's so they don't get fatigued. So much fun, I can't be beat with the Rox now.
The Harden trade inspired me to buy this game for the first time again in 2 years. I started off today sloppy playing with the Rockets against the Thunder. Got down 20-6 against the computer playing 5 minute quarters. Paused the game and checked the new button layout because lots was different from what I was accustomed to. Came back and won the game 60-57 on some hot shooting by Harden and Lin. I agree with the guy who said the pick and roll is deadly with them. Harden is also unstopable if you use the Euro step with him as you go to the basket. Fun...
Yeah you have to hold Lin's shot a little longer than you'd expect, but he's very good at 3's if you can get the shot down.
I play all Star and 10 minute quarters so my games are pretty long but yeah screw the roster updates I do them all myself so if anyone needs good rosters Holla at ya boy
After knocking down the CPU offensive rebounds sliders from 50 to 25 with Cheat Engine in the PC version for My Career, game is much more enjoyable now Once you lock the hidden sliders and save it, it stays like that forever
Can anyone provide some tips on how to play the Rockets on defense? I seem to get burned in the post either by getting blown past or out-rebounded. I'm using Asik mostly but what am I missing here. Should Ppat be at the 4, Royce, or play them both? Also, who are the best perimeter defense guys?
I use 2-3 zone each and every time with the Rockets and I control the PG and shade him towards the ball if it's out on the perimeter, then if it's in the post I switch to Asik. Works like a charm.
JSiz, thanks for that. Will give it a go. Do you apply pressure shooters and/or constant pressure? Also, who do you use at the 3 and 4 normally? As far as rotations, who do you like to sub in? We have plethora of forwards and I'm still trying to figure out the best combination.
Usually before the game starts, I assign the PG, SG, and SF to "Play Tight", with the PF and C on the default setting. As for who I use at the 3 and 4, I usually don't mess with the normal lineup. I always go with the Lin, Harden, Parsons, Patterson, and Asik lineup to start out the game. Then for my subs...I usually try to keep Harden in for the majority of the game (obviously), and I'm actually a fan of Douglass in that game so I let Lin sit when necessary. Asik usually stays in the whole game for me, with the occasional DMO substitution. But with the 3 and 4, I try to keep a pretty good rotation going. Parsons and Patterson start, but I work in Delfino for almost equal playing time as Parsons at the 3, then I work in Royce White as my first sub in at the 4, with T Jones behind him. This has been my go to strategy for the Rockets online ever since the Harden trade, and I'm 22-2 with them. Hopefully this helps you out!
When I play on All-Star with 11 minute quarters I almost always give up 110-120 points. Am I terrible on defense or is this normal?
I'll try this but me thinks Asik/center position isn't fast enough to cover both the post and corners if ball is being passed around.
So i tried this tactic for two games and lost both however they were close games. If I'm controlling the PG, the user will still be able to blow by me with an elite PG like Williams/Bryant. My guess is that you play pretty good peremeter defense with Lin/Douglas?
The default is 5 minute quarters, and an average score is between 50-70 points a game. You double the minutes, so double the points is perfectly expected.
Ehhh I mean I'm solid enough at 1-1 defense, but if I get burnt, I switch to the nearest post defender, usually Asik or Patterson, and step up to at least get in their way or bump them. But this usually leaves an open player in the post, so some quick reaction time and reflexes are needed. Best advice would be maybe if you're not confident with your on ball defense, sag off a little bit and make him shoot over you. If he does, just hit the Y or Triangle button (whichever system you own), and just pressure the shot. It'll go in occassionally, but if you can have decent defense on the shot, it'll miss and Asik with usually board it.
I see. I play long quarters because I end up shooting 60-70% and the CPU shoots 50-60%, which results in far fewer rebound opportunities than there would otherwise be. This screws with my guys' stats. Is there a way to adjust the gameplay so that shots aren't so easy to make? When I turn the difficulty up even more, the CPU becomes an even more ridiculously efficient scoring machine. So that's not the solution. Aren't there sliders somewhere on the game for me to adjust? (I use a 360).
