Most products come from larger businesses though. If the costs increase on larger businesses and they raise their prices, it is still inflationary overall and everybody will pay that price.

Having everyone insured lowers costs. The middle class is already paying for this health care but they're paying it in emergency room costs and out of pocket without insurance which is extremely costly and raises the cost of health care overall. Health care costs are the number one cause of bankruptcy in America. All of this talk about businesses now being responsible for offering health insurance seems to intentionally omit the reality of what is happening in this country. They talk about these "new costs" but they're not new, they're just new to them. Their employees and the tax payers have been fitting the bill all this time. We have a responsibility to ensure people's lives aren't obliterated financially by disease and sickness simply because they can't afford health insurance. This is the epitome of an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

Why don't we just call this what it is?

Wealthy guys who donated a **** ton of money to Romney. They get pissed because half of their employees voted for Obama. So they take revenge.

You work entirely off of ideal cases. You think a total free market would work because the definition of the libertarian ideal says so. You think there shouldn't be entitlements because people on deserted islands wouldn't get them. And, you think rich people are not capable of behaving irrationally.

Thadeus -- you clearly hate rich people. Are you frustrated with your own financial situation? Why not take some classes or learn some skills to increase your own income so you lose this hate in your heart?

Bootstrap your way to success through hard work -- being frustrated and hoping for government handouts will simply lead you to more frustration and a life of anger, which appears to be where you are now.

Your trolls are so transparent it makes me wonder if you're stupid enough to think everyone else is as stupid as you are.

Understand how you get to higher prices, but don't understand how you get to higher taxes and health insurance premiums. No data suggests that and it doesn't even intuitively make sense. Not to mention that hasn't been the case in Mass or the other arguments that CometsWin makes about comparatively lower costs to the system. At worst you get a marginal increase ($.14) on a pizza even if, in the worst case, the businesses pass through the cost, and that's if corporations think short term instead of long term (many corporations ARE now considering employee health and welfare regularly in their short AND long term planning).

Exactly why Papa John's shareholders want Schattner to stfu.

All he is doing is ruining the image of his company and alienating consumers.

I go out of my way to give my business to companies that treat their employees fairly, and I'm sure I'm not alone in that.

Which companies treat their employees most fairly, that you then throw your business to? What are your scoring criteria for "fair treatment"?

    Two come to mind.

Costco and In 'N Out Burger.

Competitive wages, benefits, paid holidays, good company culture (promote from within, etc).

Compared to their peers, those two companies get my business when I'm given the choice, every single time.

Agree with this. Lay people off if necessary, but don't cite Obamacare specifically as the reason. Avoid the wrath of boycotting leftists.

Many companies are going to be doing this, can't boycott them all (boycotts don't work anyway). No need to call attention to yourself.

Big Business is throwing a temper tantrum. Eventually, like most brats, they will realize it's not working. If not, Democrats will give them a paddling.

He was saying they did the math and that they would need to increase the cost per pizza by like 14 cents. That was his big anti-Obama shot over the bow.

Then Obama won, and he went apes**t. Now claims he needs to raise costs by 50 cents in addition to laying off/reducing hours of employees.

Total drama queen and attention w****. It is 100% clear he is crapping on his employees to make a political statement. This is not good PR. If I were a franchisee or a stockholder, I'd be furious.

When the economy continues to grow, they will stop on their own or go out of business, and others who aren't into laying off employees in order to make a political point will take their place.

More like, as they alienate their consumers and employees, their attrition rate will climb, worker productivity will decline, customer satisfaction will slip, profits drop... and so on.

I'm a Democrat, and I don't have to do anything to "stop" this goofus from laying people off. Why would I? How could I? If this fool keeps babbling his idiocy, business will take a major hit. People will get laid off. It happens. Maybe Schitner will have to downsize his abode, poor thing. He might have to settle on less than 40,000 square feet of living space. The folks laid off will have to find something else to do, hopefully at a higher salary than this cheap dude pays them.
