Personally I thought the Kubiak "team shakeup" before the Green Bay game making cuts and changes MIGHT have been some over-preparation too. I'm sure there's some examples where Bill Parcells, Jimmy Johnson, Belichek do the symbolic "accountability" measures to keep the team in check. I don't really blame the organization too much on that, and for Kubiak its damned if you do damned if you don't, cuz he's always criticized for being too "consistent". He did let go a mediocre returner from mediocre special teams. And the Texans needed the roster space for other positions of better need, so its understandable But maybe they coulda just went with some continuity with what they had into the Green Bay game (which they'd a probably lost anyway but still). Maybe putting unproven rookie Keyshawn Martin back there coulda had the same effect not coming out "strong'.

To be fair, a big part of why the Texans cut Holliday was they believed him to be too erratic and careless. They weren't denying his explosion, but simply didn't trust him not to make a negative play (like Jacoby in Baltimore). The "touchdown" a few moments ago was an example of that. Great return, but carelessly dropped the ball before the end zone for a touchback. The only reason he's not being criticized now for an incomprehensible mental gaffe is because the officials inexplicably didn't review it. In other words, jury remains out.

The jury on the ST coaching is not out. The coverage and blocking is terrible, and it isn't a coincidence that Trindon has done better elsewhere with coaches teaching proper scheme and technique.
It DOES matter when you're evaluating the player, because what actually happened speaks to the likelihood of it happening again.

There were a few seasons when our return game was pretty good (Andre Davis), but for the most part we've been mediocre to bad. A few of us have wanted Marciano gone for at least a few years now. You have to think his days as a Texan are becoming numbered but they haven't gotten rid of him before so you do have to wonder if they'll decide to keep him on. Kubiak is a very loyal guy. IIRC, he didn't want to get rid of Rick Smith or Frank Bush (at least one of the two) but McNair put his foot down and didn't give him the choice. If Bob doesn't do something similar here, I have my doubts about whether Kubes will fire Marciano on his own.
