Thoughts and prayers are always appreciated, anything negative towards the man, that speaks volume of the type of person you are. No matter how much you don't like the guy for his coaching that gives you no reason to kick him while he is down.

there is no such thing as 'paid time off' in the nba.

derek fisher would go the game, then catch a connecting flight to visit family/sick daughter. Samilar situation.

Why doesn't his family live with him in Houston?

Good question. I don't know how old his kids are, but moving can be tough on kids. Laying down roots and fitting in to a new scene is not always easy.

It's obviously a very serious, possibly life threatening situation. Give my best wishes to McHale and his family.

McHale is 54. He has two daughters, there probably in their 20's or late HS.

Which is why they would be more reluctant to move. The older you are the more stable you become.

You're right. I was thinking 16-18 year olds. Regardless, there are a milliion reasons why people might not want to uproot and move.

He's not kicking him while he's down. Alot of people were calling for mchales head before this unfortunate situation. What you need to do is separate personal and professional life. Our prayers go out to his family but basketball stills goes on and my opinion doesn't change because I feel sorry for someone. Making emotional decisions will be your downfall.

That is fine. But there are a thousand of other threads where you can call for McHale to be fired. However this thread is about him taking a leave of absence because of his sick daughter. It would behove you to focus on that, & save the "basketball still goes on" talk for one of the many other let's fire McHale & bring in Dantoni or Finch or Sampson or whoever threads.
