Born in Minneapolis,[1] White traces personal battles with anxiety to a basketball practice when he was 10 years old. One day during wind sprints, he witnessed his best friend collapse and begin drooling from the mouth. He rode in the ambulance as paramedics rushed his friend to the hospital to save him from a cardiac abnormality. White fears conditioning runs to this day. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royce_White
I'm following his tweets & re-tweets ...very Arian Foster type vibe flowing through it. Look guys; Royce will be fine. I understand , with our families being close, there may be bias in this post but.... He has more raw talent than MMorris in my opinion and some of you are still living down your criticisms of him. Just cause you haven't seen someone (6 games in btw) doesn't mean they aren't getting better. Practice patience cause honestly you have no sway or control(thankfully) anyway
Nothing has "happened" to anyrocket. We don't have a malcontent on this years roster and these comments are resembling a FoxNews cycle.
The fear of flying thing, when your job is to fly to the next destination after a game, was bad enough. This is the first I heard about how a professional athlete whose job is to run on a basketball court doesn't like to run either. I'm starting to hate this dude so much, irrespective of whether some of this stuff is his fault or not. Why...were you selected, bro. Why...are you in the NBA...
BRB guys, I'm a chauffeur but I have a fear of driving. I'm a scuba diver but I don't like to swim a lot. I'm a mathematician but all these numbers just give me a headache. What is this monkey business.
the airplane keeps leaving without him. McHale built up the rookies then he tore them right back down LOL.
Probably in the back of a limo singing sweet fantasy like in the movie Rush Hour.. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/tEvRvgHqarg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Because he was drafted 16th overall, Royce White will receive $1,645,440 this season and $1,719,480 next season regardless of whether or not he's cut from the team or even picks up a basketball again for the rest of his life. In the 2014-2015 season, Royce White has a $1,793,520 team option.
Saw him at Walgreens in midtown Thursday. He was buying cookies. Those small ones that come in the blue package?
The Rockets waived almost 5Mil in salary at the beginning of this season. If they had to move him to make roster space, Im sure they would figure something out. That being said, after this season, the roster clutter will be lightened quite a bit barring any unforeseen trade. There really is no reason to waive him this season. They are better off giving him an excused absence for the rest of the season, and invite to next Summers workouts/training camp activities. The front office would probably rather gamble on his future then put someone like Kyle Foog on the roster from the D-League. If they need the roster spot next year for some reason, and he hasn't grown up tremendously... good riddance...
Not sure if wikipedia has it right. I rewatched the draft day vid on Royce White. He mentioned, 'It starts when you're born. You're born with it...my mom dealt with it, and her mom dealt with it.' <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/BRUS6QBiViQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> His agent called, 'From 15 on down, Philadelphia is out. Houston is out at 16. Dallas is out at 17. If McHale can pull this off, Houston is a question mark on 18.' Then he went on saying, 'The rest of the room other than McHale says that you're too risky, ok? Orlando is out. Denver is out. Boston is out....Indiana is out. Miami is out. OKC is out.' From Royce's draft day and interview, it led me to believe: - Royce anxiety came from hereditary. - It was McHale who wanted to take the risk on White. Even without anxiety disorders, everything in NBA is setting up for rookies like Royce to fail, not only you have to be physically tough but mentally as well. Here are the strikes that are against him: - Not showing up at opening day of training camp. - When he did show up, he was out of shape. - Subpar preseason games and a terrible defender. - Tweet wars - Now tweets about his displeasure. For every strike, higer odds are stacked against him playing in NBA. More strikes, lesser support from fans and FO, and soon he will become a forgottten player stacked away somewhere at RGV.
I suspect Royce White is basically defrauding the Rockets out of the equity they once had in that #16 pick. He's shown zero professionalism as a player from day one, and the BS stories behind why he's afraid of one thing or another keep changing every day. The problem is that the Rockets are hamstrung to call him on it due to federal employment laws like the ADA.
