Sampson took awhile to answer the question on Lin's minutes. That means he was trying to come up with an excuse that wouldn't cause a schism and his final answer is not the reason why Lin was benched in the 1st half.

All I know is that Sampson said the offense should be not be a democratic offense and Harden should get the majority of the shots. Well, that didn't work and they're going back to a more democratic style. Sampson seems fishy to me.

Don't allow Patterson to start tomorrow. He needs to learn his lesson. Then I'll give the coach a grade. If anything it should motivate Patterson to play better. If not, then he isn't mentally as tough as he physically seems.

Harden's FG% has plummeted exactly in line with the implementation of iso ball.

Harden was playing exceptionally well as long as the ball was moving.

I didn't see this last game, but the rockets need a coach who will exploit the players' high basketball IQ's. Harden, Lin and Parsons can all play the game beautifully with a minimum of coaching since they react automatically with the right play.

Right now, Jerry Sloan and Mike D are far and away the best choices. The learning curve will be steeper with Sloan, but their long term results better. I'm afraid Dantoni will burn Lin out all over again.

I am completely baffled as to why Sloan is not at the top of everyone's list.

This team is going nowhere fast with any and all of their current coaching staff.

He played rookies. Highest rating. The rooks should have played the first time they went up against Detroit.

I totally agree. I think D'antoni if given position won't do that again with Lin, because at the time D'antoni's job was on the line, and Lin was his life line. I agree that Lin, Harden, Parson's have high B-ball IQ, and they do need a coach he get the best out of them.

THis. I don't understand why Mchale doesn't trust the young guys, my biggest beef with his coaching is he let TD, PP, MM and CD stink up the joint without playing the rooks.

Last year Mchale played Parsons a lot, but this year he's not giving the rooks a chance to earn their PT. Also if TD or CD aren't bring it they should give Cook a try.

    D+

    +played Jones
    +played Motie
    -didn't play White
    -played PPat
    +benched PPAT
    -benched Lin
    +won
-played poorly in a win against Detroit

nothing special, same as Mchale except playing Jones. no excuse for benching Lin

    A++

This is exactly what they should have been doing from the beginning. Developing the young guys is the most important goal for this year bar none. If we lose a game or two because of that, I could not care less. The coaches need to think long term, none of that "win now" crap.

I could not have been happier when I saw Greg, TJones and Motie out there.

Dude, you can't be serious. You're really baffled by Rockets fans not wanting Jerry Sloan? Good lord...

I thought he did a pretty decent job. He seems tougher than McHale, I love it. He called out PPat for being a big softie on rebounds and said he's gotta earn his minutes . And he didnt say this but we all noticed he benched Lin when he got lost on D :p. A lot of wacky lineups but I like that he gave everyone some burn.
It's gonna be interesting to see what lineups he goes with against Miami, since I assume coach McHale still won't be back?

How can you rate a coach when playing against the Pistons? This is an INC pure and simple. And it will stay that way even against the Heat. Even a blowout loss won't say much.

Exactly, McHale provides little insight after games which leads me to believe Kevin doesn't really know what he's doing. Kelvin > Kevin.

Kinda hard to judge from one game. Plus it was against Detroit, not only that they played a heap of games in a short span of time.

The best thing was he gave TJones a chance.

Motiejunas was only there for garbage time. He didn't play any meaningful minutes.

Take away garbage time, and we outscored the Pistons by 21 points with Douglas on the floor. In his 4 stints, we were +6, +6, +3, and +6 according to the scoreboard. Lin has played solid for the most part, but its been a struggle for Douglas. So I don't have a problem with Sampson giving Douglas extra minutes when the team is playing well with him.
