The goal at the start of the season is to try and win every game/make playoffs. If we are a lock for a lottery team then you'll see all the rooks.
The assumption, of course, is that the vets are better than the rookies in winning games. The arguments are very confusing. One moment, there is this "Patterson, Parsons, and Morris need development so we should give them half a season." The next moment, there is this "We need all the veteran contribution to get into the playoffs. We can develop the rookies later." Which one is true?
Royce White should play backup Point Guard He is a playmaker and needs to get some playing time. He can change the game with his versatility.
Jeremy Lin James Harden Chandler Parsons Patrick Patterson Omer Asik ------------------------- Carlos Delfino Marcus Morris Royce White Terrence Jones Greg Smith Let Royce and Terrence bring the ball up off the bench...
Because.... Mchell is in love with his Chandler Parsons and every 3 pointer he drains have him and all CParsons nut huggers going crazy. Also, there is no one better than CParsons to replace with.
Honestly, I don't know if he has handles or not but given the alternatives on the roster, it really couldn't hurt to see if you could play White at the PG or SG spot. If his summer league performance is any indication, he would at least be better able to rebound.
Jae Crowder(who is currently starting for the Mavs) Bernard James Jared Cunningham Kim English Kyle O'Quinn Robert Sacre(last picked in the draft) Just to name a few 2nd rounders who have logged regular season minutes. It's really starting to look ridiculous. I'm telling you guys the league is going to take notice. I wouldn't be surprised to hear ESPN reports about it pretty soon.
sometimes you need energy off the bench. how do we know t jones can't give you that every other night if he doesn't play? It would be different if we had an 24 year old karl malone starting at the pf.
Coach, those guys really did help there teams win games too. Mchell is pathetic. Plays only 1 Vet and a bunch of sophomores and Hardlin. No love for Rooks. After 3 loss, I wonder if this tard will do the same again.
What I don't get is that Rockets are supposed to have this GM that has knack for finding talent through the draft (hidden gem pick moneyball talent type etc) but goes on to hire a coach that refuses to use what the GM has provided. Isn't that why they canned Adelman? Rockets either on to something or they are simply a hot mess.
That is an interesting stat. I wonder with Sampson coaching if that will change tonight. Its also remarkable given that we are the youngest team in the league still "searching" for the complimentary star and yet we don't play the rookies. Jones and D-Mo have tremendous upside and could contribute to a team seeking out an identity. I think its time they play! Tonight could also be the right kind of game to get them involved, against a Detroit team without a win. I could understand if the coaches keep them out of the Miami game..what a way to introduce a rook to the league!
All the reports prior to the start of the season were praising Jones. It was ok to keep him out for a few games, but I feel it won't hurt to give him a few minutes when we need help off the bench, unless he is creating a stink.
All the games have been close so far, which makes it hard for the coaches to ease in their rookies into game action via garbage time. Eventually there will be some blow outs and the rookies will get playing time. And if they show some positive things, they'll start getting meaningful minutes. This is the usual process, unless the team really starts to slump badly and some sort of change is desperately needed. We haven't reached that stage yet.
